If this inspires you, I'd like to share the advantages that contributed to this "success." To be transparent and avoid giving a false impression, it's important to note that success is actually the prize of an uncertain and risky journey, not just the result of hard work. 1.education/Experience: I have a bachelor's and a master's degree in architecture, plus 4 years of working experience. My understanding of form, function, scale, relationship, and the power of iterations—though gained through a not-so-great school, but from a good teacher and work experience from 7 different architecture studios—is key. Yet, my knowledge is still developing and was nowhere near my current skills. 2.finance/: For the first two years, up to July last year, I didn't make any money from my products until the preorders started. All this time, I was occasionally in debt, up to $5k USD. I had 4 people around me whom I could call and ask for money to continue. I had a freelance job as an architect from time to time, which allowed me to make some money and reinvest in my YouTube channel. 3.Freedom: I am 28 now. When I started this venture, and still now, I don't have any children or family obligations, which allowed me to concentrate and take all the risks possible for this project. 4.Location: Currently living in China means I can access all required hardware, materials, and 3D printers cheaper and within 3 days. Loneliness: From the startup until last July, until my friend moved a few blocks away to start his own channel, I lived alone with no social life whatsoever. All my time was dedicated to the projects, procrastination, and sometimes sports. 5.youtube/: If we were to separate this tool from the YouTube channel (which is impossible), still, designing over 50 tools, having data on their performance, and choosing one of the bestselling items to manufacture—not to mention community, editing, and presenting skills—is key to this success. All these advantages definitely have their disadvantages as well... There is much more to talk about, especially on the entrepreneurial side of this journey. I may make a video about it later, but for now, I thought to share this. It is not a blueprint or a must-have list to start your journey. However, you should take these things into consideration. When I started, I didn't realize I had these advantages; it became obvious only after reverse engineering my journey, and I still might be wrong about some of them. Lastly, running a Kickstarter is only the beginning of the next chapter; it's nowhere close to being considered a final destination. As I start to build a woodworking tool company, I don't know what I will face or what advantages I have right now. What I do know, as was the case when I started YouTube, is what I believe in: people are succeeding in it, I want it, and I am ready to work hard for it. PS: The finance part was not as bad as it sounded (for me); most importantly, it was purely due to my lack of entrepreneurship and being stubborn. There are plenty of examples of makers on YouTube that make it right; my particular case is an example of how not to do it, rather than an example of: see, it's very hard to make money with your craft.

Красава! Так держать! Ты не один! Нас с тобой толпа! Ставлю твои видосы на фоне, когда делаю что-то сам - заряжает нереально!

You are on another level. A comprehensive pakage of gift. I am sure you have a different perspective on life. This view makes you see more beauty compared to others, but on the other hand, you suffer more from the bitterness of the world. I hope you continue on your way and don't get tired.

Amazing! And I am really inspired by your journey. As an Engineer in the ODM factory of Milwaukee tool, can't get users' requirements, because most of us don't have the DIY experience, or even own a power tool. The idea of a new product came from the US market or competitor, means a long development and verification process. Power tool is a trend, I have seen some aftermarket git in crowdfunding platforms, take a chance.💡
  • Need to comment to keep this video in my records, one of the greatest youtube videos and comments for any entrepreneur to see, its a marthon not a sprint, and you've actually shown that, the long shots representing the long span of time and the slow and unmotivating moments of life. But thats it those are the moments that make champions. So again this comment is more self serving but wanted to put this on record and have this added to my playlist, so when some one ask me like gary V for motivation I can send them this
