I once went to a simple church wedding followed by a pot luck reception that was held at a campground dining hall and it all cost virtually nothing and was a blast. The selfishness that too many couples put into their wedding plans is undoubtedly a symptom of why most marriages don't last. And then there's the issue of the massive financial mess they start their marriages with by doing this. Selfish, irresponsible weddings lead to selfish, irresponsible marriages lead to divorce. I wouldn't even want to be friends with the couples who would do these things.

Wow! That’s a new level of entitlement. 😮😂😂

I hope that they were not expecting wedding gifts as well!

Wow I can't Believe what this has come to. I'd much rather have my friends and family at my wedding than sitting home feeling bad they couldn't afford it 😢 That doesn't say much for the parties that are getting married.

To get a marriage license only cost around 100 bucks. Instead of spending 10s of thousands of dollars on one day, use that money instead on the marriage. $30,000 goes a long way for a marriage.
  • My husband and I got married at the court house and had a cake from Publix’s 😂😂 I said when I have an actual wedding it will be just a reception

Selling tickets? How about not getting married at all?

Absolutely NOT. These people need to get over themselves and just do a small wedding.
  • I went to a wedding once that was 5 hours away, the bride made the bridesmaids pay for the booze at the rehearsal dinner the same night, and then told us we had to decorate the salon at 6am the next day, didn’t feed us anything while decorating all fucken day, the reception was cold pizza and then after the reception expected us to clean up all the decorations. She also made her grandma cry in front of the bridesmaids for the dress reveal because her dress wasn’t right ( her grandma made it for her), and then made a comment that people on instagram were going to think she was loaded…. If you can’t do it right, don’t do it.

I guess that would be one wedding I won't be at.

We went to the courthouse with close family and friends, and had a picknick in the park after. I wore a secondhand summer dress. For honeymoon, we went camping in a little tent, so cozy. Still happily married 35 years later.

No way am I going to a wedding where I buy a ticket. Have a cheap wedding like I did. Get married at a church and have a reception at a park with cake
  • 150K for a wedding? They probably wanted something that was unrealistically luxurious
  • I have seen brides getting married on a Friday . There is one particular caterer in the Bronx ( Marina del Rey) that is usually booked up
  • ...or don't take a trip to New York and rent a double decker bus with your faces on it...that will also save you money. Unreal 🙄

Only if I get my money back if the marriage doesn't work out. lol

There are friends who willing to pay $300 ticket to attend? People emphasize life in silly things. Just go to court for a quick and cheap wedding. Buy things you can afford. No one owe you anything.
