  • Just took a 600 mile road trip with an Ioniq 5, used four EA stations and had no major issues. The first 3 stops were flawless. At the last one, there was a session fault about 3 minutes into the charge. I just had to unplug and replug. Besides that minor inconvenience, no issues whatsoever.

Mad props for being early adopters!! If you ever need a charge in Ogallala you are more than welcome to use our 50amp rv hookup out at lake mac! Keep up the content!
  • I used electrify America twice yesterday in Mishawaka, IN and it worked without any issues.

I absolutely love my Lightning, and yes, I use it daily for work...as a work truck. Have driven over 6000 miles (in 3 months) and only fast charged 1 time. Now, I have decided that if I were to do regular long-distance towing, I would go diesel.
  • Wow! Stressful time approaching Oglala. I’m just glad most of my road trips are on the west coast
  • @extol2653
I was seriously happy when they put out the f150 lightning because it looks like a normal and useful truck. I was considering it until I saw this video and others about towing with the lightning. Thank you for saving me $$$. I'll stick to a truck that can be used as a real truck without the anxiety of getting a recharge. Also spending all that quality time at a charging station while on vacation, wow... so much fun... if it took me 20 minutes to fill up only 10% battery I'd go mad. The high cost of gas over electricity is worth my time and mental state while on a long trip. Seems like electrics are only useful as commuter cars, for now. I'll give it another 10 years then maybe reconsider.

Battery powered tools started out like this. Look at them now. Quick change batteries will make all the difference. Just a matter of time.
  • @brandenflasch
Not great to see that EA stations on this route managed to get quite a bit worse in a few weeks between this trip and my trip this past weekend.
  • @skyemalcolm
That Julesburg Freewire station would be more than enough juice if I needed to stop with my 58 kWh EV6 Light. That’s because I rarely add more than 40 kWh and often it’s in the 20-30 kWh range which equates to 27-55% of the usable 54 kWh.
  • @TrevorMLark
Your videos are great but it shows me it’s going be a long time before I purchase an electric truck.
  • @tide4113
I believe back in 1930 they could not find gas stations everywhere, plus they didn’t have the option of have a gas station at home. I’m all for evolution. Things take time. I’m about to get my Lighting delivered next year and planning to sell my motohome. Buy an TT but try not be over 5.000 pounds to maybe suffer a bit less lost of range.

Those freewires have a 160kwh battery in them. Charges at a fast level2 rate but delivers 150kw on 1 or 75 kw on 2. It charges using 240, might be fun to have one of those at the house. For the times you need to slam some power into it while in your garage VS waiting for a level 2. Best part is that since the machine charges at a level2 rate, so you only pay level 2 prices at your house for fast charging!
  • @plustgraaf
The car tells the charger how fast it can take a charge. The charger will then be limited by either the ability of the car to take a charge or the ability of the charger to provide said charge. Limits are usually temperature, but other factors can come into play.
  • @masonicblaster
I have a 2019 Kona EV SEL. I get over 300 miles on a single charge without the AC on, and I really don't use the AC when I drive in eco mode.
  • @smartelectriccar
14:00 excitement and relief that the Electrify America charger works. Thanks Ford for joining Tesla supercharging network in 2024!!
  • @simmonslucas
I barely back bags before I go on trips, man I will have to wait to get truck EVs... So much planning.
  • Guys I love your adventures with your E f150 and Airstream. But I have a very hard time watching your videos right now.. I have a Tesla and I understand that sometime charging stressful. But you guys are so stressed out it's hard to watch ⌚️ your adventures 😕. The way I plan my trips I'm rarely stressed out anymore over equipment most of the time it's my error and poor planning that could make it stressful... Please 🙏 don't stress out over this note you don't have to be the Banks Family loves you just the way you are.. We believe you guys got this process down to a science now and your ready just for the adventure of out door living... The Banks Family 👪 ❤️ ... PS We are waiting for the new Chevy SILVERADO RS electric with the 400 mile range so I can get out of my Ford Platinum F150 with 3.5 ecoboost and well be a full electric family... 👌

Glad y'all are showing the early days of cross country travel with a standard camping rig and truck. Reminds me of the films when people were doing this in the early 1900's. Main difference paved roads already. Waiting on some company to make a 500 mile range tow rig so I can get 230 to 240 miles of range for my hobby of going out to middle of nowhere to buy old cars.
  • @CoHostColby1
charging is going to suck in -30'c weather up here in canada
  • @spyder61man
I know it may seem inconvenient, but would not be more considerate to disconnect from trailer so others can charge on those spots you are blocking.
