The Problem With Izuku from My hero Academia, that really made me appreciate and like All Might's role all the more valuable. Really without All Might the My Hero Academia might never have ever even happened that makes their relationship so much better.
In this video, we'll go through what I think was a critical flaw in Izuku and how it made All Might's role much more valuable.

If the case were that Midoriya didn't meet with All Might and didn't had his dream crushed by his idol (or realized by him afterwards), I believe Midoriya would end in General Studies or Support. (And I challenge anyone to say why Midoriya wouldn't be capable to pass the same tests as Shinso or Hatsume) The question then would be, if he would follow Shinso and try to transfer into the Hero course.

The situation where All Might didn't drop that bottle with villain inside and Bakugou situation never happened, would be great starting point for "villain deku" story. Izuku has given up. He can't save people without a quirk. All for one comes in. He gives Izuku opportunity to acquire powerful quirk to save people and convince him that hero society is flawed and his organization wants to reform it. Izuku accepts the offer and becomes UA traitor. And story goes on... :V

I kinda like the idea of Mr.Aizawa being a mentor for quirkless Izuku since he mainly fights without a physical based quirk, I have an amazing fanfiction of just that that im reading

I think another aspect I think is worth mentioning was that in the beginning he never truly believed he could be a Hero. His own response to All Might's words that he couldn't be a Hero was that "Don't cry. You already knew. You were simply running away from reality". His notes while could be interpreted as his own way of training I believe could also be seen as his way to escape from the prospect that he was still just a powerless nobody in a world full of special abilities. No one believed in him. He couldn't even believe in himself. Why should they? After all he was simply "Deku" a Good For Nothing. A fundamental aspect of Izuku's character seems to be that he needs the validation of others. He needed validation that his dream wasn't impossible. That he could fulfill his dream. That he could be a Hero. That he was worthy of being the successor to OfA. That could very well be one of the reasons he can push himself so hard for the sake of others but stop in his tracks when fighting for himself.

Man... I want a whole series with All Might as the protagonist.

I think he could have gotten into General Studies on his grades and written exam alone, and once he was in U.A., seeing how hard the hero course students work would motivate him to put in Plus Ultra(tm) effort

The way UA was presented at the time, even according to Eraser Head, no he wouldn't have made it. At least not into the hero course. He might have gotten into general studies but that's not what he wanted. I honestly could see him in a Nighteye scenario, an individual specializing in getting information. A P.I. for hire. It would let him make a difference and interact with the heroes he loves without having to be on the front line when things get dangerous. So now that the season is over I have a question. A "what if" if you will. Do you think the anime seasons would have flowed better if the 1st season had been 24-26 episodes instead of 13? I ask this because I, personally, feel that season 2 and 3 have ended at more low key, beginning moments instead of big finale moments. If season 1 had been 2 cours it would have ended at the end of the sports festival which would still be awkward leading into the stain arc, but that would mean that season 2 would have ended with the All Might vs/All For One and season 3 would have either finished or be in the middle of the Overhaul arc. It just feels that in my opinion the seasons would be ending on stronger arcs than they currently are. Would like to hear your thoughts.
  • Whenever I think about it, quirkless Izuku getting through the entrance exam using any means, not just strength, I think about characters like Toru, and how it must be possible without a flashy power. But even if he couldn't pass the entrance exam for the hero course, there's still a chance he could get into general education, like Shinsou, and work his way up from there, because you know that he would. He could get help from Hatsume, and become a hero using support equipment and training his physique much the way Shinsou did. He'd use his hero analysis to get new ideas, incorporate it into his technique, and get stronger. In any case, I believe wholeheartedly that Izuku would have found a way to become a hero regardless of his situations or his quirklessness. My main concern is how long he would last in the field. Maybe he'd become a very small hero, but I don't believe he could ever take down the villains he could with One For All.
  • He would've probably gone into general studies or support. Don't forget, Deku also has another major skill beyond his new quirk: his extensive knowledge of superheroics and the technical aspects of battle and rescue. He's not just one of the best fighters in Class 1A, he's also their most skilled strategist. It's his quick thinking which allowed him and his classmates to escape the USJ incident, beat Stain, rescue several people from the summer training camp, and rescue Bakugo from All-for-One. He would've probably gone on to become a professional tactician, or something like that.

WIthout All Might, Izuku would have completely failed the Hero course entry test, or however you would say that. But I think that he could have entered UA through the Support or the General Education course.

I believe he could've made it into U.A, but as for the Hero course itself? ...Well, I mean... Mineta was said to have been able to get into U.A based on his intelligence alone, so it's not impossible. However, let's explore the idea that instead of the Hero Course, Deku got placed within General, and let's also assume that he'd bump into Shinsou, either as a classmate, or just on accident, and Deku found out his Quirk, I believe that would've lead to his "Eureka" moment. Because, let's be real here, Deku's not stupid, it's just that his vision has been clouded by the straight-forward Quirks like All Might's and the other big-name Pro Heroes, so present him with someone who doesn't have a direct combat Quirk, and just like with the Leg Revelation, he'd get the memo. Cut to the sports fes, where do take note, even in canon, Deku didn't use OfA until the fight round, so it's quite likely that he would make it into the battle rounds. Now... here's where it gets dicey, as there's no certainty that he'd make it far, because in this timeline, Deku wouldn't be training with the Hero Course, and know their Quirks, but I think that he'd be able to figure out the gist of some of their Quirks, namely Todoroki's, not that figuring out the limits of Todoroki's Quirk would do much, since with just normal strength, he wouldn't be a threat to Todoroki. However, there is a chance that Deku might get transferred into the Hero Course after the fes, if he does well enough. Assuming that the people in the fighting round stay relatively the same, with just who fights who is changed around a bit, there are a few people who Quirkless!Deku can fight on an even level on. Momo, Urarake, and Mei are people who Quirkless Deku could feasibly fight against. Now sure, Uraraka would definitely be the most difficult opponent, but her Quirk is relatively simple to figure out, and plausible to avoid, as she needs the pads on her fingertips to touch her target.
  • Without all might telling Izuku to give up, i def could see him becoming a vigilante. If he met all might but didn’t go save Katsuki, I think he was actually ready to resign his dream by what he said. But those alternate timelines are interesting to talk about
  • I can picture a quirk less villain Deku that created an “antidote” to take away people’s Quirks and make them quirk less
  • Thanks for the vid. I think that Deku needed to apply practical to his theoretical. He does and that’s where he shines when they’re combined. When you can never really take away from him is his technical genius - but he needed to apply it.
  • @sglyph
Why would you say something so controversial yet so brave
  • This was great! I loved it! It was a great explanation and I liked how you showed midoriya’s flaws without hating on him
  • @loki009fong5
He might of been put in general studies and branch to being a police officer in my opinion because of who he is. He always want to help and never want to harm anyone within reason and he knows the reality and still hope to do his best not to mention in recent filler episode he was able to deduct what had happen and even Bakugou wasn’t able to figure out, also if you included hi hero analysis and how good he is at reading people and their quirks and his quick ability to think of what can they do he would of been one of the greatest detective in that world be would and would of been able to prevent most major villainous attack or figure out their plans and been able to counter it but in the hero course no he would not of made it cause Heros fight when crime or disaster happens they train on what to do but not on the how, why and what happen
