A global tech outage is disrupting companies worldwide from airlines to broadcasters and banks. The US is issuing a ground stop on all its flights worldwide, as delays hit Berlin and Amsterdam's Schipol airport -- among many others. In the UK, the London Stock Exchange was temporarily affected along with the Sky News channel, which was unable to broadcast for several hours. Crowdstrike certainly seems like an appropriate name....

The conversation that 'needs to be had' will go like this... "You want secondary backup? The total cost will be twice as much"..."Oh, we can't afford that, hopefully it won't happen again".

I work for a very small roadside assistance company in Australia and even we went down. Makes you realise how vulnerable and reliant we are as we get pushed more and more digital.

Here in Poland, the only symptom of this was when I was in the shop this morning some of the self checkout mashines had this blue screen, but only 3 out of 10. No issues with my PC in any case
  • The widespread disruptions caused by the CrowdStrike update stem from a faulty software modification to its Falcon platform, which is designed to secure Windows systems. This update led to critical errors, notably the "Blue Screen of Death," affecting devices globally. The issue began in Australia and quickly spread, impacting various sectors, including airlines, hospitals, and financial institutions. No malicious cyberattack has been linked to these outages
