I like how they added the abnormally long hold of the last angel. It was like 10 minutes in the show

The best part is that all of this is intensely true to the spirit of Hideaki Anno's wild creativity. The man made his own home-made Ultraman fan-movie when he was young (even stomping around in a sweater painted red-and-silver). This "cheap" summary is way closer to the inner machinations of Anno's mind than people give it credit for.
