Men would literally rather slay the gods and assume their place than go to therapy
  • @skyblade7438
“It’s just confusing, and so we push on.” If that doesn’t describe Eva…
  • @homarb123
fellas is it gay to be born across infinite timelines to give someone a happy ending
  • @dogofchaos
I think Anno made the new series because he could fight his depression and learned to believe in people again.

Seeing Shinji turn from flawed, nihilistic and self centred to genuinely optimistic, compassionate and selfless over the course of two series is probably the most cathartic experience I’ve had in fiction

A lot of people don't care for the Rebuilds, but damn, if even just hearing the plot of 3.0+1.0 doesn't make me emotional. To me, it feels like the circle finally being completed. A cycle of suffering finally ending. It's beautiful.

I assumed Mari was one of the first Eva pilots, and stuck that age because the "curse". She's not a clone she's the original and is trying to atone for what happened to Yui.
  • @Just_Tamaki
this reminds me of the time when shinji said "this truly was an evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 thrice upon a time" and then proceeded to become real
  • @singhswings5915
Basically the anime is the first "bad ending" and the movies start the cycle of "the loop" where it repeats over and over again until shinji gets his "good ending" small things being changed creating a butterfly effect later on, but instead he creates the happy ending for everyone but himself. Edit: Yes I know Shinji does kinda get a good ending

What I love about Thrice Upon a Time is that you got to see all of these characters finally heal and let go of the trauma that haunted them for decades
  • @adrie_rosamieee
The video was so serious up until 6:58 where you call the Mk. 6 the Moon Gundam and just continue on like normal, made me chuckle lol
  • @ScreenTalker
The Eva 03 sequence hurt waaaaaaaaay more with Asuka yet was more ruthless with Toji
  • @darkmatter9643
I laughed like a madman when he said “Shinji declares his wish for a world without evangelions which rei dubs as a neon genesis”
  • @swiip100
Mari can aleo be seen as "new" in the cycle. Shinji kept struggling with the same people worsening his attachement issues. Mari can be seen as an external solution. Sometimes you have to just let it all go and try something new

After the original NGE left me emotionally battered and hurt all those years ago, it was nice to finally get a happy ending. Yes, the original Neon Genesis is a masterpiece, a true work of art, but sometimes you just want everything to end on a good note and for the characters to stop suffering so much.
  • @expelledangel
Both of these videos were brilliant and you brought me to such an understanding of Evangelion that I'm coming away from it feeling the full weight of the emotional impact of the story for the first time. If this quality of content is consistent you're gonna find your channel blowing up before long.

There will never again be a series like Evangelion, for better or for worse. Seeing the whole cast grow past their faults and strive for their happy ending after everything they went through is something special and it hits like nothing else. I definitely think Mari should have had more time to interact with Shinji as much as she did Asuka, but overall I agree with what you said about her being the necessary clean slate to bring things about more brightly. These are some of the best videos you’ve put out and I’d be really hyped to see more in-depth looks at anime like this. (Not that I don’t love incorrect summary, those are incredible) Keep up the hustle, my man. Excited to hear more from you.

I’ve gone a decade being so confused on the greater details of Evangelion as a whole until these two videos came along. So well written and well explained. These 2 hours were a delight
  • @Aviation667
Recently got to watch Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 in cinemas for the first time and I was kinda… confused but also thought it made a decent amount of sense. Glad this video is here to sum up the plots without me having to read 300 wiki pages again!
