Neon Genesis Evangelion has been around for 25 years (and finally the new movie is here!) which means that’s 25 years of speculations and spin-offs to try to solve what ACTUALLY is happening in that show. Is it a Time Loop? Is it a remake? Does that weird Shave Impact ad count? Well, Crunchyroll has you covered. We’ve looked at everything Evangelion and made the most accurate timeline on the internet. You Will (Not) Believe How Much Time Tim Spent On This.

Took me 54 minutes to realize this was made by the official Crunchyroll and not just some asian guy high out of his mind one Friday night

    >makes a video explaining the series >doesn't even have the series on their streaming service >10/10

Seeing this helps explain a lot about Kaworu's relaxed behavior. He's like, "Shinji listen to me, I have seen a reality where we race horses, and another where your dad ends the world because he shaved his beard.... if my head explodes today, that's not even the weirdest thing that happens... so just chill out"
  • @mr.sand7899
The funny thing is 3.0+1.0 kinda confirmed that this all was true with Kawro telling Shinji that they have done this so many times that he has lost count.
  • @nyetloki
This is funnier if you imagine there is no camera and he's just explaining this to a rei doll

Netflix: Acquires rights to Evangelion. Crunchyroll: Lemme confuse your audience real quick.
  • Just to make this guy feel better, in 1.0+3.0 Thrice Upon a Time, Kaworu wakes up from a coffin on the moon and there are exactly 37 coffins where the timelines have repeated, with the rebuilds being the 38th and final timeline.
  • @DGP406
Imagine being Kaworu, jumping timelines curious about how Shinji is managing what life throws at him and seeing the guy crossdressing as a maid in secret for Fuyutsuki.

Normal people: Evangelion is a series about the loneliness and weakness of the human being True intellectuals: Evangelion is a series about failed yaoi on a multiverse scale
  • @yomuyugi
You either enter inside the robot or live long enough to become the robot
  • @WmAHaynes
Wait.....if the series is really about Kaworu trying to get with Shinji and perpetually failing across multiple timelines...then Shinji was the true waifu all along...
  • @jimjones9631
"Eva is a story that is set to repeat" Thrice Upon a Time vibrates aggressively.
  • Crunchyroll: all evangelion 37 timelines explained Me, who've only watched the Neon Genesis and The End of Evangelion: the WHAT?
  • @dylonshane
slaps whiteboard "this bad boy here can fit so much existential crisis in it"
  • 50:53 "Basically, Evangelion is a whole series based on Kaworu trying to get with Shinji but failing every single time" Evangelion 3.0+1.0 confirms this theory. Amazing!!
  • The most insane part of this is that after 3.0+1.0 this is the best guide for the Eva universe possible lol
  • @Mi-202
This guy isn't employed by crunchyroll, he just hacked into their channel and they didn't delete it.
  • @pecador_tor
So basically it all connects to "Kaworu: Horny in all Universes"
  • @davidmg56
I would like to kinda see a updated version of this because some of what he said was actually true like the fact that Kawru remembers every universe. I read the manga for NGE and love it loved how Kawru was more brutal. But that would make since that was the first universe with how cold he acted
