    Doing God’s work with this series. It’s great to see it’s still possible to build this awesome airplane. Projects like this up to Mike Patey’s Turbulence are a really testament to how great a design this airplane is. Looking forward to the rest of the build.

  • If the dots are retroreflective, they can be very accurately located with a total station by a land surveyor. This gives you a global truth reference point to register laser scans or photogrammetry. If you locate some of the targets in the room, this will free up the surveyor to relocate to any location in the space and do a very accurate resection, and do a scan from any location. They should be able to give you something like 0.1" locations across the surface in a controlled environment. This is, by the way, the exact same process used on the JWST heat shield tests, and I've used it to measure walls and architectural elements on buildings.
