Her flight instinct kept her alive. So many people listened to the people who said to stay in your office, everything is fine, and they all died. If you think your life is in danger, do what your gut tells you and do not listen to anyone else

Imagine a plane crashing into the building next to you and telling the people in your building "go back to work". How little of a heart do you have to say that?

My mother worked in the second tower. She was 28 at the time and had just got back to New York from a business trip the day before. She had went up to the 98th floor where she worked and went on with her normal work day when someone had told her a plane hit the first tower, she didn’t believe them at first but then panic broke out so she took an elevator down to the lobby, she had just left the building when she heard the 2nd plane hit. My mom would tell me that the only way she could describe the sound of the plane hitting was “it sounded like the world was ending” my mom never looked behind her, she didn’t want to see the chaos that was happening. She says she doesn’t remember anyone’s faces that day besides one woman who she saw in shear terror. The lady pointed up and said “they’re jumping” my mom kept running and didn’t stop until my father picked her up on the Brooklyn bridge. My mom said after that day she felt blessed to still be alive and wanted more kids. I was born 13 months later in October of 2002. It’s crazy to think that if my moms buisness trip was just a day longer I might not have ever been born.

My dad is also a survivor and he was one of the few found after being trapped under the rubble of the building for 8-10 hours I just feel so bad for everyone that had to go through this as well

The fact she also saved another person before making it out of there is just amazing.
  • @LarkspeedNL
The person who dragged her into the elevator instead of the stairs saved her life, she then probably saved the life of her co-worker by telling them not to go back inside.

My friend died on first tower that hit. She was on the 105th floor. Thank goodness she listen to her instincts and she saved her co-workers life too. WOW

Funny how if a single smoke alarm goes off inside a building everyone is ordered to clear out immediatelly, but if a literal PLANE crashes into a building next door you are ordered to stay put? Like what's the worst that could happen, you miss few phone calls that day by evacuating the office?

"And I wondered, if I died too" That line itself is so chilling to me. To be in that state, after such a horrible experience, questioning your perception of reality, wondering if your brain was making up your escape to mask your own death. Wow.
  • @AlexIsModded
It's interesting how her coworker, Laurie, saved her life by making her get on that elevator. And then she saved her other coworker's life by pulling her out of an elevator.

She didn't once victimize herself as she was telling her story. Instead she empowered all those listening with her words. What an amazing lady. Thank you Mikaila

Plane noises are scary enough. Now imagine if it's right outside your window and crashes .
  • @fernfernisfernie
plane just crashed in a tower next to you and they're telling them to go back to work? if your life is in danger NEVER EVER feel obligated to "go back to work." same thing if you're feeling sick, CALL IN and don't feel bad about it. screw those people who said that. your work is never more important than your life or your health.
  • @LocksAndChains
The best interviews are the interviews where you let the subject speak. And you did that. It was a privilege to hear her story.
  • @maddiemoopants
when she said she didn't know if she was dead or alive.... this broke me. im so happy she is still here.
  • @thiruvetti
Just imagine the amount of human flesh and body parts they might have seen on the floor due to the no of people that jumped out of the building. That itself is enough to scar one's memories for ever.
  • My cousin was Captain Barry Galfano NYPD first response, He developed cancer from toxic inhalation of the debris a few years after 9/11 and passed away about 15 years ago.. My pops was in NY for a meeting, staying at the WTC Marriott. He was supposed to fly out the next morning, which was 9/11. His meeting ended early, and he kept feeling like he needed to leave, so he called his admin assistant to see if she could get a flight that evening, and she did. When he woke the next morning and saw the news, he was shocked, realizing why he'd felt the "rush" to leave the night before.
