Slay the Spire is a mesh of many genres that I don’t like. But combine all these genres and for some reason I just love it! I think what makes it special for me is how interesting it’s world is. It’s complex without being hard to understand. I also like Pirate Outlaws for the same reasons.

I feel like One step didn’t get nearly the attention is deserved. Game is insanely polished and if you like the art style probably a must play.

An observation: The go along a path, and pick up gear to get stronger on the way is no was pioneered by slay the spire. The exact same formula is used in FTL, and is likely used in many games before it! Its amazing to see how designers use the same tools and reapply them to make entirely different games.

Library of Ruina is like an interesting take on slay the spire battle mechanics without the branching out.

i think monster train and griftlands do a very good job at taking inspiration from slay the spire if you want really good slay the spire clones play those games.

I love how Playsaurus (the clicker heroes and poker quest devs) have been using the exact same enemies since like, 2009 when they released Cloudstone (which clicker heroes is a spin-off of, though the game has since been killed)

Neoverse, Chrono Ark and Ratropolis are probably my favorite Slay the Spire inspired games. Neoverse is a pretty blatantly a clone but changes to how drawing cards and reshuffling the deck work make it have a very different feel that I liked. Both Chrono Ark and Ratropolis are different enough that they're harder to compare.
