The people that grew up with games like Final Fantasy, Persona, etc. Are now old enough to make their own games and im so here for it
  • If I had the money, I would buy all the copies just to make sure it was a massive hint. Not every RPG (even Final Fantasy) needs to be turned based. But I'll definitely support any modern game that does.

Ben Starr's voice will make this story somethign really special no matter what

Former Devs of Ubisoft made this game. They wanted something different than what Ubisoft was going for.

That trailer surprised me and hyped me up for a game I never heard of a moment before. Take notes BioWare that’s what trailers are suppose to do.

the graphics, world design, and battle system look incredible. honestly, this might have some of the best environments I've ever seen in gaming and I'm personally so glad they're not sticking to purely medieval which people equate to what fantasy is for some reason. What UE5 is capable of doing is insane. It's wild we've gotten to the point that games look like what those FFX FMVs look like, if not even better in ways. I've been wanting a fantasy AAA turn based game for what, around 15 years now? so grateful for this studio for taking the plunge. hoping the people crying out for for turn based show up for this game to prove to SE and other studios that there is indeed an audience for this and that turn based is NOT outdated, just needs to be executed correctly with modern touches and interesting mechanics also fun fact: the director and ben starr are both huge fans of FF8, so it's great to see that passion for JPRGs there. also, this is another chance for ben starr to win an award for his performance which I think he surely deserves

This does have a lot of potential, will be keeping an eye on this

As soon as I saw that Persona 5 style in battle UI, I got so hyped. This was the biggest surprise hit for me from Summer Game Fest (Gears of War E-Day too). It really does look like what Final Fantasy would be if it stayed turned based

That combat system looks super promising. I really hope this game turn out as good as it looks and sells like hot cakes.

Holy smokes NSP...This game gives me so much hope and joy for the video game industry! I am definitely keeping an eye on that game, cause it looks and feels like a breath of fresh air. First BG3, and now this.❤ I am glad to hear it's creators are FF fans. You're right when stating the gameplay resembles older FF games and Persona games! Please keep us posted on anything new regarding Expedition 33, and love your videos as always!😊❤
  • This game looks like a dream. I’ve been waiting for a “jrpg” that goes against the trends for a long time. Don’t get me wrong, I love a lot of those anime games, but this one seems like it’s combining eastern and western influences.
  • @morningfog532
Dang NSP, thanks for turning me onto this - it looks SICK! I so hope we are in the middle of a resurgence of high-budget, high-fidelity turn-based RPGs. As someone who grew up with the old FF games on the SNES/PS1, that would be a dream come true.

This game looks like its right up my alley. I hope the mouthful of a name doesn't turn away would-be customers. Sucks, but marketing (including the title) can make or break a game.
  • @toro_sensei
i think going the route with the time attacks to do more damage or to block or dodge attacks is the right way to go for a modern jrpg style game to gauge a larger audience since it makes thing a bit more active and a little less raw stat dependent and as mentioned with a lot of casuals being exposed to mario rpg from the remake at least in my friend group from the ones that usually dont like turned based rpg's ended up loving mario rpg and a lot of them messaged me or tagged me in discord excited for the game when they noticed the time based attacks and defense in the trailer and are now heavily invested in the game when it comes out
  • @user-mw2ww6pi5x
Cool, as someone that needs a turn-based system (due to health stuff) - I thoroughly approve :D
  • @AntiRiku
A turnbased RPG that doesn't look like everything else? Count me in 🫡
  • @tbnwontpop8857
This looks like it has the potential to be this generation's Persona 5, if Metaphor doesn't wind up being that. It could also be the decisive game that warrants continued investments into turn based in AAA RPGs. If you were any of the people that hated XVI's direction because it wasn't turn based, then you owe it to yourself to support this game. Doing otherwise is nothing short of indolence and shows that you're all posers who really don't care about whether or not RPGs continue to have this combat system and just shit on FF because it's cool to do so. So put your money where your mouth is and support it.

The concept of a cycle of death reminds me of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, which also draws inspiration from FFX
  • The trailer immediately reminded me of Legend Of Dragoon, looks very very promising indeed.

This game has me soooo hyped like you couldn't believe, genuinely a great surprise! I'm so glad you're covering it NPS!
