Featuring the longest Atlas Video ever created with a complete, warpless TAS of Super Mario Brothers 3 on the NES! In addition to the 100+ hours of my own editing, this video also includes the work of expert TAS'ers adelikat, andymac, Lord Tom, and Tompa as well as visuals by Atlas Map cartographers J.J. Maxx, JonLeung, KingKuros, mephea, Revned, and Zeric. So a special thanks to the TASVideos & VGMaps communities which helped make this video possible! Also, I consider this only 85% complete as it's missing some special effects and for that I apologize.

Let me know what you would like to see next!

3:59 that moment when you grab the scepter and that tiny room disappears, to reveal a sky that takes up the entire screen as you fall back to Earth... gave me goosebumps! Well done!
  • This perspective makes you realized that the game has tons of secrets above and below.

I was thrown by how the enemy characters mostly stay still until Mario's in the area. Then I remembered: The basic premise of this game is that the characters are actually putting on a stage play. They're just waiting for their cues! Brilliant!

This is cool! It’s like watching a TAS run through a Nintendo Power magazine. 😎

Man, replaying SMB3 recently, the levels all seem way, way smaller than the MASSIVE LANDSCAPES FULL OF ADVENTUUUUUREEEEE they seemed to be when I was a tiny child and the game was the state of the art as far as video games went.  But seeing them like this, they feel even smaler still... it feels so wrong, man!  Every single one seemed like such a sprawling, fantastic world full of imagination and heart in 1990 but now they just look like tiny little chunks of turf.  Really, really fun and masterfully-crafted turf, though.

"Lord Bowser, Ludwig's airship is reporting. They have just engaged Mario." "What?! But that's impossible! It's only been a half-hour!" "Reports from defeated platoons indicate the enemy has been... phasing through walls, sir." "Mario...!"

9:40 Haha, the programmers drew a face in the sky using coins and a track at the end of World 3, Level 2. I've never seen that before. Thanks for making. This is cool!
  • @kornnut43
Coolest TAS I've ever seen.  Now I want to see SO MANY GAMES done like this!  Excellent work!

After he grabs the wand from the bosses, all those little clouds made me all happy. =3

(slow clap)...Beautiful..just..BEAUTIFUL! SMB3 is one of my all time favorite NES games & to see it done "atlas style" was 49mins & 30secs of joy! Been waiting for this one for a while & I gotta say, worth it! Thanks AV :P

It's finally here! So cool. Only halfway through, will watch rest later. I love what you did with the map screen scrolling. 9:41 Whoa.

This is an amazing perspective that I never knew I've always wanted. Thank you for your time an effort on such a task. Is there a way you can give Super Mario 2 the same treatment? Preferably a warpless TAS, so as to really enjoy the nuances of all the worlds and levels. I'd really look forward to it.
  • This hurts my head as to how much work must've gone into it. Everything is animating when technically off screen, this is simply remarkable.  Absolutely brilliant.
  • @bravo075
This is amazing, I can only imagine the amount of work put into this.
  • @ChrisClash1
This is simply amazing ! I really can't imagine how you're doing this. I'd love to see complete regular longplays of many games done this way, like Legacy of the Wizard or Zelda II for example. I'd be willing to pay to see that.

This is absolutely amazing! It showed up on my recommendations. I already subscribed to the channel to check more videos! THANKS!
