Rep. Maria Salazar of Florida says former President Donald Trump 'is a new person internally' after an assassination attempt against him at a rally in Pennsylvania.

On the second night of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Salazar told PBS News that "when you are exposed to this type of incident where you understand that .... you could have lost your life in that minute, he now understands that the Almighty and the powers from heaven gave him another opportunity. Which is a fantastic experience to go through and that will definitely make him a different person, therefore, we'll have a different party."

She described Trump now as "maybe not spiritual, maybe not religious," but certainly more "contemplative."
