Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world's most hated audio tools. Today we are going to talk about the Arturia MiniBrute 2. Is this eurorack compatible analog synthesizer and successor to the original Arturia MiniBrute worthy of its legacy? Is it the best beginner instrument for modular synthesis?

Thanks to Klangfarbe for letting me use one of their floor models

I applaud your hard work and tireless efforts to bring us something that sounds almost but not completely unlike a cowbell 😁
  • @Yuzuki1337
I know I keep saying things like this over and over again but they deserve praise and mention: Holy shit those jams are juicy
  • @TSBeebout
I am eternally grateful that you release these on Fridays. My weekend has not started until I’ve heard the best possible jams that can be made with the worst possible junk at Klangfarbe.
  • I have chosen the Minibrute 2S as my first synth and I love/hate how it forces me to learn sound design every time I use it!... I have learned more synthesis from this machine than any vst just by the "no presets bitch" factor! And the 2S sequencer is just inspiring! P.S: Amazing jam in this video! <3
  • Oh no. If we start seeing Eurorack modules on here one day it's over. One does not financially recover from modular gear. Stay safe and keep up the good work! <3

This is the only channel where I enjoy watching EVERY video. And the only one where I stop the video every 2 seconds so I can read the meme lulz that pop up. Florian is truly a master of the craft.

Your jams never fail to impress and entertain! Really impressive how you manage to get pleasing sounds out of just about anything thrown your way.
  • @haslo_
I do love this one's sounds! Fat yet sparkling. You've made this instrument shine in your jams, great work!
  • @caseyholford
Wow - you squeezed some amazing jams out of this thing! The final “lo fi” one is especially cool.
  • @albema_music
That first jam is fireee ! Another great episode, congrats !!
  • Congrats on another nice video! Would you consider making a video where you explain "behind the scenes" of how you are creating the Bad Gear content? Would love to see how you pick those memes, haha. 100k subs are approaching, would be a good reason to do it!

my ex girlfriend had one and I thought it was the perfect introduction to subtractive synthesis-I found the layout extremely intuitive and allowed me to understand how the process worked on a simple enough level that I was able to extrapolate that to other synths afterward. I also enjoy the very aggressive, raw sound of the oscillators- very fun instrument. I really enjoy Arturia as a company
  • @scottnelle
I can't believe you do 52 of these a year! Another great episode. I've been thinking there might be a Minibrute 2s in my future, if I can find room near my desk to store it.

Love your videos. I appreciate all the hard work you put into them. I really liked the fat bases. I'd love to spend hours fiddling with the bits, and patch bay. Well done, another classic.
  • @EdgyNumber1
Yo Pilz! That bass in the intro landed on me like a punch in the face. Brutal! I'm impressed!
  • I love my 2s. It makes a great expander for the MatrixBrute when you want additional tempo synced LFOs and sequences to modulate destinations inside the larger synth.

6:05 Instant hit! Really, this is just terrific and should be elaborated into a complete track. Would like to dance to it in a big club.
  • @NoyaD9
Love for the Easter themed intro :) And the second jam... Outstanding! So great to see a track made only out of a machine! Love these kind of explorations
