HOWARD BERGER! It’s hard to single people out in this industry as being favorites... but Howard definitely falls into that category. He, along with Greg Nicotero and Bob Kurtzman, was my boss for five years at KNB EFX Group. Howard’s joy and exuberance for film and monsters has never left him. He never seemed so much as a boss but more as a big brother. He was always right there with us out on the shop floor, sculpting, life casting actors, molding and casting. I always respected Howard as a boss, but I also felt like an equal as well. He welcomed fresh ideas, innovation and initiative, which made me feel that I had his trust when building anything for him. Howard’s credits are vast as he’s been creating creatures and makeup FX for decades. I can’t express how happy I was for him when I saw him win his fist Oscar (I’m sure there are more to come) for “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe”, his well deserved BAFTA for “Hitchcock” and Emmy Awards for “The Walking Dead” and “Dune”. And 4 Chainsaw awards! Howard continues to excel in and push his craft further. I can’t wait to see wha my old boss and friend does next.
