Buttercup=YUM!!! I got a big one this year, so I made a pie 50/50 with pumpkin, and it was awesome! Better than only pumpkin cuz it had the buttercup flavor. I recommend it to all who love pumpkin pie.

Thank you for posting the tips on when the squash is ready to be picked. I'm new to gardening and especially to growing and harvesting squashes. Much appreciated 🙏😁
  • You are a wonderful teacher! Just love to listen to your observations and teaching style.
  • Nice primer on winter squash. I enjoy growing Tahitian melon squash. I've had them keep for over a year. Great taste. Large size, but has a self healing quality when cut. You can make several meals from a single squash. Also pest resistant. Cheers.

Do you cure your Burgess Buttercup before storing inside your house?
  • Hi, I’ve been struggling to get wood chips and am looking into the site you mentioned. Did you specify any restrictions for types of wood when you make your requests? I’ve heard some people stay away from black walnut, and some other varieties but I’m wondering what your thoughts on that was. It says making specifications to the request will increase wait times, so I’m wondering if it’s better just to accept anything, or be more selective. I live in Oregon City :)

Love winter squash. I've been growing Red Kuri for a few years and quite like it. It has a sweet potato-ish taste and I'm looking for something a little more nutty squash flavor. Would one of your recommendations be like that?
