Well this is the first video of 2. The second video will cover my visit to Kordes roses HQ.

This is the HQ of Tantau, a famous German rose breeder. I saw some magnificent roses and very healthy. This visit comes after some heavy rain in the area in the previous days. You will see the roses held up very well I think.

Regarding treatment of the roses against disease, Tantau did say they treat their roses and emphasised they use nothing harmful to insects or wildlife. (But didn’t wish to divulge what they do use.) They pointed out there are very strict laws in Germany that protects the wildlife and forbids any such chemicals. But they assured me no dangerous chemicals are used.

If you live in an area that does not suffer blackspot, rose royal piano would be a fantastic choice. But check it out for yourself.

And I very nearly purchased rose Ozeana. If you’re looking for a pink strong rose with a great fragrance you may wish to have a look at this rose.
My other favourites you see in this video.

  • These gardens are so very German! No glamour or opulence of any kind, just a myriad of stunning rose bushes in bloom and a flowery lawn to showcase them, amazing! I absolutely love German Roses and I do have quite a collection of both Tantau and Kordes plants. Thanks for taking us along, bye 🌹

DA say all Roses must be planted 3 Crocs apart. Great Tour! Thanks for taking us along Jay
  • Well Lovely Videographer....on a purely selfish note, i am so glad you brought 'plan B' into practice, drove over 500 miles through torrential rain and slept in the car just to Tantaulise us with beautiful rose after beautiful rose....after all,.it could have been a right croc !⁴ Thank you for sharing Jay Jay ❤️❤️🌹🌹❤️❤️

Wow! I was so excited to see this video because I am planning to order few roses from Tantau and this helps a lot to finally order what I want. It looks better to see the rose plant even in a video compared to looking at a catalogue. I am after of the new rose called ‘Creme Brûlée, very beautiful colour. Starlet Eva and Ozeana are already in my wish list. Some of the roses that they planted there are the ones which are popular and got a lot of international recognitions. I got already some of them in my garden and I’m not surprised if you choose Hansestadt Rostock, it has incredible colour, it’s glowing and beautiful even in the evening. Well done Jay Jay! You made a lot of rose lovers happy with this video.🌹🌹🌹
  • Wonderful varieties of beautiful roses! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻! Handestant Rostok is one of the healthiest rose I know! The most healthiest I would say. Available in the UK under name Queen Bee. Grows definitely taller than 80cm but not very tall, grows more wider than taller, flowers later than other roses, good to keep wavy trend of blooming roses in the garden, covered with frowers, keep them for a long time. Mary Ann is one of my favourite. Awaiting to have her as standard tree. She is a sister of Chippendale. Sophie Luise highly recommended for aroma 👍🏻🌹❤️ Doesnt like direct sun. Red Piano available in the UK under name Hope and Glory. Might not open buds fully in the UK, probably better in warmer climate. But in sime gardens in the UK doing absolutely fantastic. Need some time maybe. Lots of roses you showed, which was very interesting to see in real life. Very and very interesting!!! Thank you Jay Jay 🌹❤️

Thank you for your kind words about the german style… and thanks for showing us the beautyful roses there! I live just 1,5 hours away and wasn‘t been there anytime 😂. Now I know that saving money for a rosegarden trip to the UK is a good idea 😊.

Thank you for showing us these roses. I wish they and the Meiland roses were more available in the US. Your right about the marketing. You should go to Meiland headquarters next time. You could do a live chat to fund raise for the next trip so you wouldn't have to sleep in your car!
  • @bloombaag
Wow, it was great tour for sure to see the beautiful roses one to one. Nostalgic series roses of Tantau are very popular for their beauty, fragrance and long lasting habits. I agree that red colour roses never look real in video or photographs. Thanks for sharing taking us along.
  • Oh Jay Jay…for the record: Attention, seen last week at Tantau Headquarters, a slightly confused Person running around between different Rosebushes, throwing his Croque into the Flowerbed….😂😂😂 If you like Soul so much you should take a look into Gospel, smaller in height, blueish leaves, Burgundy coloured 2.5 inch flowers with an incredible deep scent of old Roses…great in a Pot…and don’t trust their height expectations, Souls after 4 years gets up to 6 foot…without support on its tree like stems thanks for showing…the not so spectacular German Rose Garden…😂😂😂you should make another Trip to Steinfurth, Rosen Schultheiß holds the National Collection of old Roses and it’s beautiful there, they Celebrate the Week of the Roses over there in July…😂❤
  • Thank you so much for sharing my most favorite flower 🌹🌹🌹
  • @deren2001
In love with rosa Ozeana 😍I love the red colored stems and buds, and the upright position of its rose. and its pink color is so deep 😍!
  • @dduplis
Wow, wow. Their rose health is impressive. I would not leave without Mary Anne. Jay Jay you have just given me a new goal for this year: Find Mary Anne.!!
  • @hmongCAM
    Beautiful roses❤❤❤ thanks for sharing
  • Thanks for showing us Jay Jay as it's a place I'll never see in person. I think Ken's got his eye on Mary Ann so we may see it in his garden one day. No wonder roses have been voted as our favourite flowers of all time.
  • @roontunes
great fun. wish I could do that. I got two Eva climbers for my front door, Tantau gifted them to me after a bad experience with two Camelot climbers. Eva is a wee stormer, pumping out blooms and they are lasting about three weeks before going very pale pink then shattering. No fragrance so far. I also have Giardina, like gorgeous peonies, Ive had it three years and its only about 6 feet with zero fragrance but I love the form and colour and its healthy. Pastella is super pretty, healthy and floriferous, zero fragrance after three years. Also Augusta Louise, stunning colouration and in its third year is fragrant. Got pomponella and 7 leonardo da vinci this year, bit patchy settling in though. But great fun to se you at Tantau.
  • Enjoyed the tour. It's great that you took the time to show how far apart they have been planted. Thanks for sharing.
