I'm happy to have found the two of you. Your calm manner, and obvious love for each other, make my day.

I can smell those pears, yum. Momma cooked down her famous pear preserves with the lid off, which required frequent stirring to prevent them sticking on the bottom of the pan. When cooled down the syrup would be so sticky it would pull loose teeth. I never understood how the pears held their firmness but they did. Never had any near as good since she left this earth. Many, many ppl who were privileged to receive a gift jar of her pear preserves have asked me for her recipe. I just laugh and say "there is no secret, just hours and hours of stirring". Recipe = pears, sugar, time...Not what today's busy homemakers want to hear. Thanks for the memories, Lori. BTW: Your hair is beautiful today.

I love watching you do this. I think canning is becoming a lost art. Thank you for keeping old school cooking alive. Love your channel.
  • The way you had the camera was perfect; I could see exactly what you were doing and how! THANK YOU!

Yum! My Grandma used to make this, she put sliced fresh ginger in. I'm old so you know that was a long time ago.

Would love to see ANY Videos that you want to make. Mrs. Lori, you could read the phone book & I’d watch! Great that you’re all spreading out the Pie Collaboration until November. That’s awesome. Thank you all so much. It’s so much fun to watch and see all the different pies. God Bless
  • Your videos remind me so much of my childhood. The tastes and smells come to mind. So much like my mama's, grandma's and aunt's kitchens. Thankyou for the memory joggers. Makes a dreary day so much better.

My grandmother had pear trees, made a millon jars of pear preserves, just the same way as you show here. It's one of my most fav things on the planet.

Every now and then around Halloween time,I make pumpkin preserves, using the exact same method that you use here for pears but, with one difference,I add cloves to the fruit during the cooking process.

I always double check ..I’m canning my pears..but I’m doing pear butter this year and also making pear scrap jelly ..I’m excited ,last year my pear tree was in that drought so we didn’t get no pairs this year. I’ve got 95 pounds so far and we have been canning maybe two more days I might put all my scraps in the freezer and make another batch of scrap jelly at another time I’m doing one now.🍐🍐🍐🍐🍐 I have canned years back, but I hadn’t done it in a while so I had to take a refresh course with y’all ladies
  • A friend's family always puts a piece or two of pineapple in the bottom of each jar of home canned pears. Just their trademark, I suppose. These 2 videos brought back memories!

Mrs. Brown, thank you for being my de-stresser for the day. God bless you for having such a big heart and sharing your wonderful secrets. I have learned so much and even my eldest sister has admitted to learning a secret or two from you. Trust me, that's high praise as she is an exceptional cook and baker.

What a beautiful pan of pears. Reminded me of my grandmother. She cooked them in what she called a dish pan. They looked so good in the jars too. She also made fig preserves. This brought back beautiful memories.
