  • The talent Mr. Barker had at reeling off a multitude of things at top speed was incredible, fun to mind blowing. RIP the Two Ronnies.
  • Comedians, the philosophers and prophets of the 20th and 21st century's
  • Back in the days this was made, we all had TVs that used cathode ray tubes [ CRT]. The image was created by an electron beam that would 'raster' left to right in 'lines' from top to bottom. The number of 'lines' varied with time. When I was young, we [UK] had 405 lines, which got upgraded to 625. You also get raster scan rates which can vary, because it might get 'timed' from the alternating AC supply frequency [ 50 Hz UK, 60 Hz US ]. Nowadays, we're probably operating at the equivalent of 1000 'lines' or more. They still exist, because even with digital, there are defined rows of 'pixels' from top to bottom of the screen. So, when you take an old signal and try to process it up to modern, the resolution is degraded. You can't 'improve' it, because the information just isn't there to build on. All you can do is to blend out the hard, clunky pixel images. It's also why, when you transfer from one medium to another, especially filming a TV screen, or US-UK or vice versa, you see dark bands traversing from top to bottom.

The way he could remember that lot is amazing.
  • @f3aok
However did mankind survive so long without oxygen bars. There's a mug born every minute.😀🙄
  • @eldoofthe3rd
I have a feeling the world needs some comedy at the moment

I don't remember this one so thanks for the refresher or should that be refreshment. What I do recall is the start of the bottled water craze: Perrier went from a little known French brand to a multimillion £ business overnight, from a niche product to one found in supermarkets, sponsor of a comedy award and when the craze was dying down they introduced flavoured water.
  • My grandad used to always ask in restaurants if they make their own water, this was hilarious
  • @fishtigua
I know of one fancy London restaurant that has a water waiter (sommelier) who advises from the water menu. Not a joke, he trained in water tasting.
  • @777petew
I agree about the goofiness, but it's delivered with such conviction and seriousness. That's half the comedy. Same as Monty Python where they have upper-class well-educated people who are talking utter nonsense. They do it so well that the nonsense hardly matters. Thanks again.

I think I read somewhere that someone in London actually opened a water only bar! It didn't last long apparently!
  • @dav147
Alan you really must react to their 'Slim Pickman and Polly Parton' music no.
  • this clip might have been from "The Two Ronnie's Sketchbook" which aired in 2005 judging by how old they both look in the intro.
  • @HiyaEverybody.
"Washing up water, washing down water" 😂👏 Bro that's so funny clever witty 👌 And funnily enough I remember a Rave nightclub that opened every Saturday midnight until 7am Sunday and didn't sell any alcohol, just water, juices and sodas, fizzy drinks and tea, coffee, hot chocolate. Place was packed out full every week. pEoplE wErE high on somEthing ElsE... ✌️
  • @SuperPoodleboy
I definitely recommend turning on subtitles for this one just to see them try to keep up with Ronnie Barker when he gets going. 🤣
  • @bigbird2100
