PCOS is caused by chronic hyperglycemia (a.k.a. high blood sugar all the time). The high blood sugar causes two main conditions: 1) Systemic glycation 2) Hyperinsulinemia All PCOS symptoms develop from those two conditions — insulin resistance, hormone imbalance, thyroid problems, weight gain, cravings, etc. The longer hyperglycemic conditions exist, the more PCOS symptoms will manifest, and the more intense existing PCOS symptoms will become. Reversing PCOS is as simple as reversing chronic hyperglycemia. As soon as a person allows their blood sugar levels to return to normal levels, the body will begin to reverse PCOS. It is just a matter of keeping blood sugar normal and STABLE until the body heals. Any diet, exercises, or medications that cobtribute to normal and stable blood sugar levels will treat PCOS. It usually takes about one year of normal, stable blood sugar levels to reverse PCOS completely, but big improvements can be seen in as little as two or three months. The highest impact lifestyle change for PCOS is to limit your daily carbohydrates to less than 20g. Just this one change will completely resolve hyperglycemia because dietary carbs are, by far, the biggest source of elevated blood sugar. It's all about blood sugar. Peace and love.
