  • Did I just learn that cream of soups are basically gravy? 😅 everything is so much more simple than I realize. I appreciate your lessons!

We need more recipes like this so we can stop buying so much from the store. Homemade always tastes better and is healthier.

Love the apron! When I was young, aprons were out of style. My mother-in-law started her day by putting on her apron and it remained until bed time. I thought, Oh, how old fashioned! Then, I started learning the “old ways” and started preparing my own baby food and meals from scratch. Even when I worked 60-70 hours a week, my weekends were spent making meals for the week. I quickly learned that an apron saved my clothes from a lot of stains!! It took years to find an apron that was actually comfortable but if you’re going to actually work, an apron or two are absolutely necessary accoutrements!!

To make your cream of mushroom soup gourmet put a little thyme in with your mushrooms and onions while you are sautéing them. Make it with half and half instead of milk. After the soup is nearly done put in a cap full of sherry or white wine into it. Let it cook off a little. Now you have delicate, delicious gourmet soup. It makes casseroles extra special, also.
  • I picked up a can of cream of mushroom soup last week at the store, read the ingredients, was disgusted, and returned it to the shelf. Thank you for this recipe. Liked and subscribed 🎉
  • This recipe is so helpful and not complicated at all. Just the idea that I’m not putting harmful ingredients into my family makes the little extra time needed to do this so worthwhile.
  • My Mom always had a can or mug of bacon fat in the fridge and then came the time when we were told that was bad for us and along came vegetable seed oils. Now we're back at square one😅 Thank you for this.

Ruth Ann you and your family are amazing. I am 73 yrs old and have learned so much from you. I have watched so many of your vids and I am never bored. You are so real to life and God put you here to show us how simple but hard working life can be. May you and your family be blessed!
  • I'm old. I live on a small homestead with my disabled son. Not only is our time limited, but so is storage space. This recipe is so welcome to my collection! Thank you for sharing.
  • Ruth Ann, I just love all your videos I've learned so much already! You are one very intelligent woman. I would have loved to have grown up on a farm like your children. Your videos are just so refreshing to watch a Godly wholesome influence for a change. It's what our world needs more of! Keep them coming and God bless you for what you do!
  • I just recently made cream of celery soup with a harvest from my garden and I used white beans instead of flour to thicken it. An immersion blender is great to purée it a bit and I love the taste and texture! 💕

I love to hear the children laughing & playing around in the background! I have 10 grandchildren & just love to see them enjoy life. God bless you & thanks for your recipes!
  • This is a game changer! My husband is extremely sensitive to Campbell’s “ingredients”. Thank you!!❤️
  • I didn't think young people knew they could do this. I'm impressed. They don't realize this is how it was done before Cable Soups came along. Thanks for sharing.😍

This looks great! So sick of the oversalted versions from the store. Plus since I used my Instant Pot as my crock pot, I can make the "Cream of" soup on the saute mode and then add my other ingredients for my recipe, thus only one pan to clean at the end. Also, I have found different brands of "cream of" soups vary widely in their taste, and making your own would be the what it should taste like. Thanks for this!
  • Thank you so much for the simple recipe. Everything we can exchange for real food is so helpful. I really wonder how far from food we have been consuming. I always thought I was a scratch cooker, until recently. Thank you for teaching your children the old ways. Gives this great grandma hope for the future.
  • Sorry…. Had to stop the video so I could just saw WTH on the onion cutting? I’ve never seen anyone do that before. It’s brilliant!!! Many times I’ve only needed a bit of onion but chopped the whole thing. Game changer.

ANOTHER TIP: To avoid the undesirable flavor of FLOUR in your soup stir it in the fat until it begins to thicken and turning brown. Same for gravies. The bad flavor of flour will then totally eliminated.

Baby ducks are so sweet. God has designed them so that even though they've never have experienced water....they know instinctively how to swim.....God is Good. Thank you for sharing recipes and these little ducks.
  • Didn't realize Campbel's had added so many extra ingredients. I have a few cans, glad there aren't too many. Thank you, Ruth Ann, this recipe looks easy to manage about the same as making gravy. As a mom of four grown children and one mature teen, who works and has purchased his own car, it is refreshing to hear your children playing and sword fighting in the background 😊 ! Brings back good memories of my kids playing and also how my brothers and I played when we were growing up. Their playing didn't seem to faze you, Ruth Ann 😊. My mom use to say "no blooding curdling screams all is well," haha!
