🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:42 🚫 Eating too much fat does not directly cause weight gain; insulin resistance and high carbs play a role in fat storage. 03:36 😴 Feeling tired after eating is more related to overeating (Thanksgiving syndrome) than the type of fat consumed. 05:55 💓 Heart issues are not caused by healthy fats but can be influenced by poor-quality fats and insulin resistance from high carb consumption. 08:10 🚽 Gallbladder issues, like diarrhea and floating stool, can be signs of trouble breaking down fats if the gallbladder is not functioning properly. 10:38 🤢 Shoulder pain on the right side can indicate gallbladder problems, emphasizing the connection between gallbladder health and fat consumption. 11:45 🔥 Pain in the gallbladder area, often on the right side under the liver, may suggest congestion or sludge, potentially leading to gallbladder attacks. 14:30 ⚖️ Eating too much fat might hinder weight loss on a ketogenic diet if the body is primarily burning dietary fat instead of body fat. Adjusting fat intake is crucial for weight loss s

An emergency room doctor diagnosed my intense pain as having gall stones. He sent me to surgery within a few hours and it was removed. Despite it being very painful, I wish I had heard this talk about going on intermittent fasting and that it might take care of the problem. I would have been willing to try. This is the first time of hearing from anyone that fasting could possibly help resolve the issue. Good job ! Hope it helps someone else. By the way, even though I no longer have my gall bladder, I am carnivore and do not take supplements to aid in my digestion with the fats I eat. Very occasionally, I might get a day of loose stools but then, like you suggested, I just cut back on the extra butter, etc. No problem.
  • Another great video Dr Ekberg. Anytime I eat a large portion of carbs, I fall asleep and then wake up with anxiety. My energy and mood much more stable with low carb and IF.
  • @paulkennedy1035
Thank You for making this crystal clear We appreciate your hard work and effort you put in teaching us this stuff.

Great video I had a cholecystectomy 40 years ago and since then cannot eat too much fat without developing diarrhoea. I recently started carnivore and increased my fat I ended up with flatulence and diarrhoea. To compensate I eat increased protein with no excessive extra fat just the fat in the protein and the fat it's cooked in. This is working for me quite successfully. I still feel full I have increased my egg consumption which doesn't have any effect on my unruly bowel.
  • I have been following you for years. Today’s video may be your most important one. At the end you put up graphs where you start with 220g of fat, but after adaptation THEN bring it down. No one anywhere has said this. It makes perfect sense and aligns with a successful adaptation strategy. My lightbulb moment. Thank you so much.
  • I am 83… still want/love to learn. Your lectures are gold…even when I am a bit lost! T2…no aches or pain. Great lab work. Can always do better.
  • @gordonwells1626
Thanks Sten….since going low carb high fat/med protein eating I’ve listened to a lot of YT vids but yours are specific, clear and informative. Not too much or too little….just the right level of messaging to get the point(s) across without losing the viewer.

    I'm 71 now. The heaviest I've ever been was 2 months ago - I was 10st 12lbs (152 lbs) but, in 4 weeks - by cutting out sugar & snacking, I've lost 11lbs. I want to be 10st (140 lbs) which is what I was all through my 40s, 50s & 60s . . . so only 1 more pound to go !
  • @leftykeys6944
As a teenager and young adult I had an eating disorder that was pretty severe. I was addicted to junk food; sugar and refined carbs in particular, and prone to binge eating. Listening to this is terrifying, because it clarifies the harm I could have done to my health if these binges continued through middle age and beyond. (I'm now in my 70s.) That I didn't end up obese and/or diabetic is a friggin' miracle.
  • @edy3569
About the floating stool: it can be also caused by high vegetable intake. That creates gases which can be trapped in the stool, causing it to float. If you're an a keto diet (so high fat) and you're consuming daily a good amount of vegetables, then it can be possible to have floating and even lighter coloured stool. As long as it's not associated with any abdominal pain, diarrhea, cramps and other issues there's nothing to worry about.

Dear Sten. Instead of being silent and happy, I owe you a debt of gratitude. Since watching your videos in 2022 my weight went from 210 to 175. My target is now 160 or so. I'll get there. I'm no longer addicted to sugar, it was suprisingly easy for me. I decided to cut out nuts completely because I have a severe addiction to them. I used to fill a coffee mug full and put it to my mouth. It was that bad! Anyway I'm bugging my sis and friends to watch your videos cause theyre so awesome! Thanks!
  • @angelfriend3710
Thanks for another great video Dr. Ekberg! They are so helpful, and I really needed this video on fat. I've been experiencing eating too much fat, and have been slower to lose weight on keto. So thank you for discussing this. Please keep the videos coming. I am positive I am not the only one to benefit from your videos, and am so grateful that you care so much to get the information out there! Hope you have a great weekend!
  • @Aniejayandmei
Terrific video. Your clarity and ability to simplify the complex is much appreciated. Thank you thank you!
