only the second time I've been told to go direct to the numbers, and the first time I've succeeded. sharing for my ‪@MidlifePilotPodcast‬ peeps who were discussing this. the red barn is just over 2000ft from the numbers, btw.

0:00 always start at zero
0:28 initial callup
2:22 cleared to land
3:11 if able, proceed direct to the numbers
4:19 turn very short final

There are so many interesting stories just entering the pattern. "Negative mode c" "remain outside the delta" Also, "direct to the numbers" is one of my favorite things to hear from tower. Nice landing

Nice! I thoroughly enjoy being told to do anything expeditious and less normal - but I sure didn't right after I got my PPL.

I remember my first direct to the numbers...fortunately it was during PPL training and I had my instructor with me. I was working on landings and it did cause a small helmet fire when I heard it.

Hey this is Nick from the Dalles today. You got me out of a pinch and was able to get the airplane home no problem. Can’t thank you enough! The pilot community is the best!

Well done! What a smooth landing. I remember my first “direct to numbers”, it definitely gets the blood pumping 😂
  • I fly out of Aurora! Last time I flew into UAO I got proceed direct the numbers coming in from the west from an XC from TMK, first time for me too when I got that instruction. Im a 14 y/o student pilot in a 172, glad to see someone else on YT flying into our field haha.

Thanks for taking the time to add the ATC captions - it's really helpful as I just started training.

Nice – to the letter (and very smooth landing!)

I'm in the middle of "Return to flight" training after 13 years of not flying (and low time before then.) I got a "Direct to the numbers" on Saturday. It was an especially busy day because the weather was nice, and we hadn't had a nice weekend day in about 2 months. Lots of IMC.

I used to be based in Charlotte Class B airspace in a single. We used to get "direct to the numbers" all the time. I was a nice way to say "get the hell out of our way". Just watch your speed if a sharp angle.

I recognized the PNW. Learned to fly at Pearson.

KUAO Aurora is my home airport where my airplane is parked. The tower is amazingly cooperative and safely sequencing aircraft due to the wide range of aircraft types landing in this airport including balloons and the RV airplane manufacturer. Sure enough, I did a few "proceed direct to the numbers" landings. .

Love the sight lines from the CTLS, compared to a Cessna. Seems the seat is higher and move visible over the glare shield. Skyhawks make me claustrophobic.

I get lucky often enough to call for short approach at my class D. Chop, drop & slip to the numbers is the way. At least it was in the Archer. We'll see how it goes in the DA40.

Got my ppl at Houston Hobby class B. Direct to the numbers was the norm.
