was itching to get up and happy to have a day with blue skies. even better, I could fly up the gorge. what a delight to see pnw in the winter. the other story of this flight is the turbulence. wow.

0:00 always start at zero
1:04 switch frequencies, called in the blind
1:37 turbulence begins
2:37 transit over PDX and work on climbing
4:42 approach and sightsee The Dalles
5:54 approaching DLS
6:33 turning final DLS
7:48 pick up flight following for the trip back
8:33 vectoring through PDX airspace
10:03 HIO in sight
10:29 turbulence begins
12:16 where's the traffic? too bumpy
14:12 short final, flaps zero
15:07 traffic jam
15:36 give PIREP

I like to think of the Dynon as saying "Geez" in response to turbulence. Well done man!

Love flying out to KDLS, I used to work out there. Never flew there in winter though. Kudos! Beautiful day for it.

The cameras never do justice to how much that turbulence rocks you. Nice work!

Your videos are like a moving Ansel Adams gallery. Awesome video.

Nice flight Ted! Those winds were a bit rough but seems like you’re getting more comfortable. Hillsboro ATC seems VERY familiar with the “flight design” type, now to get the rest of them educated!

The Gorge in the snow looks spectacular! I've been in the PNW for over 15 years and haven't yet made the effort to try getting down there for proper winter photos. Thanks for plugging the video in the OB chat today, glad to be on board your channel!
  • “Follow the north bank of the Columbia River up the gorge.” Such a cool ATC transmission! And great scenery all the way. The airspeed and wind speed graphics really helped visualize how the winds were affecting you. And congrats on your first PIREP!

Was this Wednesday? The skies seem to match what I saw that day. I think it is adorable your aircraft asks for cheese every now and then. (plz don't explain it, I know what it is for)
