Published 2022-11-11
Hello Gorgeous,

In this video, the legendary voice guru ‪@jvoxfox‬ and I react to the mesmerising Geoff Tate of Queensrÿche performing Take Hold Of The Flame. In this video, we analyse their amazing performance, explain and demonstrate the vocal techniques and we'll tell you what we think made it so great! Analysing a beautiful voice with Julia was honestly a dream come true. I am so excited to share this. She is so special and I am really looking forward to seeing her again and singing our hearts out!!

  • I will always say this shout out to Chris DeGarmo for being able to keep up with Geoff Tate vocals
  • @lertsman
Loved the way Julia was looking at Lolli, they way us old metal-heads watched Julia when she first did her reaction. And yes, Silent Lucidity is a must, as well as the whole of Operation:Mindcrime.
  • Geoff Tate is a true vocal master, he has inspired generations of singers, myself included.
  • @jvoxfox
I love this and I love you. SO MUCH FUN sharing this amazing group with you Lolli! Had an absolute blast hanging out and making this video :)
  • @jabbazabba23
I loved the vocal nerding out. If Lolli and Julia were a double act of any entertainment medium, I’d cash in my retirement to see them succeed. Splendid humans!
  • @KDSRJonathan
I loved seeing Lolli's reaction but also seing Julia not have to worry about reacting and purely enjoying
  • @Roguefem76
As a Queensryche fan I absolutely adore watching really good vocal coaches just lose their s**t over that first E5, and then again at the last. 😄 I loved you two rocking out to the sections between as well. Great balance of technical appreciation and enthusiasm! :D
  • @en5788
The way she looks to her right to see the other one's reaction is priceless.
  • @billwell9266
Warms my heart to see young people seeing the magic of Queensryche
  • That look on your face when you are vicariously enjoying someone experiencing something you love for the first time...
  • @donkemp3007
Welcome from the great State of Washington which is where Queensryche is from.I just wanted to say thank-you for show casing some of Seattles WA best ROCK. Thanks
  • @dougel4709
This reaction was an onion!!!!! We have the superhuman vocals of Geoff Tate. We have two of the web's finest reactors. We have the infectious chemistry of (what looks like) two lifelong friends. We have out of control vocal nerdery. We have the shock and surprise of a 1st time reaction. We have the joy and excitement of a fan showing off what she loves. Its just so much overwhelming goodness!!!!! Lolli, when you react to "Silent Lucidity", you're gonna flip you lid. He's almost like an entirely different singer and still just a amazing! 🧅🧅🧅🧅
  • @Daddy53751
I always say for a natural baritone, his range and power are amazing! Welcome to one of the finest vocalists on earth.🫡
  • @rpmevo8
And to think that this song was belted out as an ENCORE song after singing for 2 hours!!! He then followed it up with “Queen of the Rÿche”, an equally difficult song and once again nailed it!!! When they opened for the legend Dio, they were not very well known and they brought the house down and especially this song left the audience freaking out like “WHAT WAS THAT?!?!?!!” (In a good way). Geoff in his prime was a vocal BEAST with a 5 octave range. 🤘
  • Also to note of Tate's stamina, since this track was the second to last song in the set performance. In addition, this is pure natural ability as there was no such thing as "auto tune" in '84.
  • @MR-ml2po
I am a former classical singer and this guy along with Roy Khan of Kamelot turned me onto metal. I dated a professional opera singer awhile ago and showed her Queen of the Reich from the same concert and her jaw was on the floor after it. Whenever I want to be humbled about singing, I try and sing a Queensryche song. Geoff Tate is a crazy good singer.
  • @kentmains7763
This is off of their first full length album, not only does Tate sound fantastic the entire band is just phenomenally tight.
  • @tipigi3570
I've been a fan of Queensryche, and especially Geoff Tate, since '85, and in my opinion, he's still the best male singer I've ever heard. Great video!
