US Vice-President Kamala Harris will deliver remarks at a White House event on the South Lawn, marking her first public appearance since President Joe Biden ended his re-election bid and endorsed her as the Democrats' nominee.

The event celebrates the National Collegiate Athletic Association championship teams from the 2023-2024 season - an otherwise routine event that will now take on historic national importance following Mr Biden’s announcement that he will not run in the upcoming US presidential election.
