The power of silence is versatile. Silence can transcend speech, speak without words, and complement where verbal language is lacking. And keeping silent also has advantages in terms of creativity, mental health, spiritual and religious practice, achieving the upper hand in negotiations, and even as a way to intimidate. This video explores the power of silence, unfolding four priceless benefits of being silent.

  • Silence between two old close friends is never an embarrassment. Sitting outside, having a drink, or just walking together needs no forced conversion. Being in each others company is sometimes all you both need. Unspoken understanding of each others worth.

Silence is underrated in my opinion. I used it as a weapon when someone would verbally abuse me or intentionally try to hurt me. I later understood how powerful I was during those moments. Because why waste energy on something that craves for attention and acknowledgement through one's reaction towards an action
  • Someone once said that, 'The thing most modern humans fear most is silence and the sound of their own thoughts'.
  • One of the reasons I married my husband was that we can feel totally comfortable by being together but not talking. We can sometimes sit in a car for hours and none of us utters a word and the fact that both of us are comfortable with that is one of the cornerstones of our 15+ years relationship. I need my solitude and so does he. People who feel the need to fill out every bit of silence with their voice, make me incredibly tired and drain my energy. Silence is indeed golden.
  • People tell me I’m antisocial all the time but I just hate wasting energy on something I feel isn’t for me. This page is allowing to find peace and have a better quality of life crazy part is I found it by complete accident

"Silence is a friend that never betrays you". (Confucius)
  • I hate going to parties, and my so called friends think I'm a nerd and I'm not enjoying my life, I don't enjoy partying and stuff, all I want is a friend like me who enjoys the silence, the peaceful walk in beaches, sitting watching the sunset....

To anybody who's reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind. May clarity replace confusion. May peace and calmness fill your life. I hope anything that bothers you and makes you feel depressed will go away and you will feel comfortable with this video. Don't worry, tomorrow is a new day. Start over. It's not too late yet.
  • It's a time to be silent and it's a time to speak. We just have to learn when it's the right time for both.
  • @Tenozen
A friend told me, being silence is better then to talk, cause in the end humans speak by their actions. He said that talking is just to create an exposure that u are present, but it could be a double edge sword if people don't see u as what they expected u to be. So better be silent, let yourself be pure from what people expected u to be, and let your action says to them about whom u really are.

Also, keeping your mouth shut keeps you safe. The less your enemies know what you're thinking or doing the better, as it is the foundation of surprise. “it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.” - Mark Twain
  • In summary 1. The quietter you become, the more you hear. 2. Silence boosts creativity. 3. Silence can send a powerful message. 4. Silence improves well being.

I used to have a friend with whom I would often go hiking. We could spend hours walking in the mountains without saying a word and it was never awkward or embarrassing. It was amazing, just feeling the environment with all of your senses, observing your mind chatter...
  • I used to overthink what I've said to my friends after we hangout so I decided to be more silent and just listen while they talk. Now I have less to think about and my mind is more at peace.

I went on a date with this girl and we were having great conversation. At one point we both just stopped talking and sat there taking everything in and it felt nice. Neither of us tried to talk or force anything, it was a moment of just flow.
  • @srini9653
This is absolutely profound. I have realized that in the last 10 years I have been trying to become more silent and I can confidently say I haven't lost anything, when I actually talk(less) I feel people listen.
  • "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt" - Abraham Lincoln

As I read everyone praising Silence, I would just add one thing. Be careful with it. Silence is a double-edge sword. It is a weapon, but also a prison. There is a time for everything, and silence isn't always the best option. I am capable of being one of the most silent person in a group, principally listening and observing around. And afterwards, I feel a bit evasive, absent. What is the point of my presence if I am just here to listen ? And when I try to speak, it is not the same. I feel better in the silence. Which is bothering me. There is a time for everything, and parsimony is the best ally you can have. Know when to act, know when to remain silent. But do not act in only one way.
  • I’m learning how to be quiet . It’s exposed all the control freaks in my life. Edit :and I’ve gotten use to the warm safety of silence. I noticed that the second I stoped talking was the second I stopped having issues with people.

Silence can sometimes be inhibiting. For people who observe, they usually remove themselves from a situation to see it from many angles which leaves them not experiencing life. Lack of experience can cause a loss of personality or identity. When you stay quiet for too long you forget what to say, when to say it, or even how to say things which can also impact you communication and interpersonal relationships.
