Is high fructose corn syrup the same thing as table sugar? Many people assume so, but the answer is more complicated than one might think based on what the mainstream media will tell you.

Man, I just found your channel and I'm gonna bingewatch this. Exactly the type of information I crave, but in a very well put together form as an easily digestible video. Great work!

Seed oils are far more responsible for weight gain since the 60s & 70s than corn syrup. But yes, corn syrup is terrible for you and definitely contributes to weight gain. Just not as much as the garbage oils found in everything. Should do another video on seed oils!
  • This channel is remarkably underrated. I love you guys, thank you for this content!

This explains the silent epidemic of non-alcoholic-fatty-liver disease. NAFLD was previously rare, but in recent decades it has become extremely common. People who hardly or never drink alcohol (like me) have fatty liver. I only cut this stuff out a few months ago, but I'm excited for my liver to heal over the next year or so. It's nice to know I can still itch that craving for sweetness with a little bit of real sugar and not harm my liver. (as long as it's not in excess.)

Watch the documentary movie King Corn, and you will look at high fructose corn syrup, and the crop corn in a completely different way. It is the number 1 reason the USA is screwed, and you have to be a food scientist or be able to read food labels to be extremely healthy nowadays. 90% of the food in the typical USA grocery store contains HFCS.

hey guys, i was curious if you ever heard of a guy on youtube that goes by VeganGains. He loves having debates and getting to the truth of the matter. I think yall would be a good candidate for him and it would make for a very interesting debate bc yall work off facts, not theory.

You have the best videos and primers on these health topics. Thx so much for everything

Let’s be honest here, we have more access to candy and fatty cakes and drinks than we did 30 years ago. So let’s say we cut 80% of sweet stuff, I bet everyone would get healthier within the year. But it’s all about $$ so I take this video with a grain of salt 😂😂

This kind of explains why Warren Buffet keeps eating McMuffin, drinks 5 cans of cherry cokes a day (all sugar) and steak, Dairy Queen. He knows these give him more energy / good metabolism. Guess he knew the secret after all

I stopped eating organic cane sugar also, and replaced it with Stevia, monk fruit and coconut sugar. We hardly eat high carb sweetened food stuffs anymore and feel better.

One thing that doesn't make sense is the HFCS having more starch than is stated. If a company was getting an inferior product that required a higher dose than normal to hit the usual sweetness, it would be discovered almost immediately. Also they would notice in their caloric content which is based upon a burn analysis, a purely physical phenomena. Just seemed strange. Food makers don't tolerate changes to formula without much testing.

We don't have corn syrup in coke in Australia. We have sugar. But it does have Citric acid.
  • @dieandgoaway
Then why do starches like rice and pasta not make you fat but high fructose corn syrup does? What would be the reason?

Cutting out sugar> Limiting sugar> Consuming Natural sugars> Consuming Processed sugars. That's the way I roll. Best to cut out as much as possible.

Across the midwest there's now an increase in obesity. Unfortunately, one in three Americans are overweight, while 42% of Americans are obese. The US Government and FDA definitely know the cause - HFCS -, but the US food industries are in such hot waters (Losing production facilities & resources in different countries), there is no simple answer on how to eliminate HFCS from American diets. It always comes down to money, and when it comes down to money, it's always the individual's responsibility to control and restrict consumption. It's such a shame this is the case, especially with young children and the new generations being fed highly processed foods. Obesity & weight stats are going to jump in the next 10-15 yrs :(
