Spoliers for Little Nightmares 2! I’m probably wrong here, but this is my theory on the Hunter. I don’t think he lived his whole life in the forest. I always thought that little heart etched into the tree was just a cute detail, and not connected to this villain at all. I’m guessing that the Hunter used to live in the Pale City, (or at least watched the TVs). Like the other viewers, his body - mostly his face - became distorted, but he managed to snap out of the trance before getting fully sucked in. He decided to flee into the forest where no one could see his disfigurement, and stay away from the heart of the broadcast. Somehow (I really don’t know how) the Hunter figured out that Mono is the Thin Man. He wants to kill Mono, hoping to end the time loop, and by extension, the broadcast, so no one else could be mishapen like him. This is why Six is in the Hunter’s basement. She’s bait for Mono. This is why the Hunter only shoots at Mono. Revenge. At least that’s my guess.

The Lady is such a serve. I think about her every other day. Her humming lives in my brain rent free

For the Granny, people theorize that she pursues the player not out of malice but because she craves interaction. If she lived alone for so long with no one to spend time with she would be desperate for social interaction. It is also theorized that she was the previous Lady of the Maw, since for the current one we see at the end of the DLC that her face is beginning to sag like the Granny's

One thing about the janitor is that he isn't actually covering his face. That IS his face. Basically, his skin is falling off his head, and it folded over his eyes, so that's why he's blind. Also, the head above the skin is his skull. Edit: Guys, it's not a mask. If you go on the wiki, it literally explains what I just said

The Barber must be inspired by the German fairtytale "Der Daumenlutscher" ("The Thumbsucker"). In this fairytale a child wouldn't stop sucking his thumb, and because it is considered bad behavior by the adults, the barber would cut off the child's thumbs so he couldn't suck them anymore.
  • Notice how the Lady of the Maw's relfection actually doesn't reflect her actual face, that's more of what SHE and the others see her as, when in reality she isn't that ugly at all. Could be body dysmorphia where she sees herself as ugly and needs perfecting

I feel like the entire story of Little Nightmares is a symbolism of someone's childhood. The thin man might symbolise a boy's father who have a very high position in a company and wants his son to join him in his business, which the son refuses but one way or another the son still grew up to inherit his father's job. The disfigurement caused by the TVs might be a symbolism of what adults who are addicted to TVs appear to children: soulless and sometimes mad at the children if they interrupts the show. The doctor might be an actual doctor in a child's life that always make them afraid. (I mean seriously who's not afraid of doctors when they're 5 lol) The Lady might be a symbolism of a mother who's overly obsessed with beauty, an irl problem associated with younger people. The chefs might be restuarant workers who sometimes scares the children when they see the knives and violent swinging actions who will shoo the children away when they walks too close. Overall, this series depricts an overexaggerated version of innocent childhood 'horrors' that's magnified so adults can experience it again.
  • Wasnt mentioned in the vid but the chefs are also wearing masks. The second twin can be seen scratching himself under it when he is working with the big meat chunk after you escape the freezer. For the first twin, im not sure when or how you can trigger it, or if its just an insanely rare idle animation, but between doing his laps in the kitchen, he sometimes lifts his mask up and licks his lips

I will never forget little nightmares, its one of my top favorite games aside from others, and I'm glad people are still talking about it. I almost cried when I saw that little nightmares 3 was official.

at 7:13 you can see that the lady's face doest actually look disfigured, I think the mirror just shows what she feels like/looks like on the inside
  • @Exile_Sky
For the bit on the "child eating" the only one that seems to do that regularly is the Madam of the Maw. The rest of them just seem to stick anything in their mouth that will fit... and are also to product being served to the other guests. The Maw itself is one giant cannibal buffet.. Where even the cannibals are on the menu.

I'm so happy you brought up the Hunter's little heart carving! I found it strangely adorable. There's also a heart cut out in his outhouse, I don't know if two hearts in his chapter would count as a motif, but I'm taking it as one. He's definitely canonically lonely enough to have taxidermied people to sit at the table.

I like to think that The Hunter was once a kid himself and basically grew up in the forest and wore a mask to hide his identity as a normal human. He had took in a few kids (including the blindfolded one) but they all became victims of Thin Man and then he took in Six, found out Mono was taking her, thought he was a fake child basically a servant of Thin Man, and tried to kill Mono so he doesn’t lose Six like he did the other children

The lady's face in Secrets of the maw isn't actually her face. In the game files I assume, her real face is shown and she is a beautiful Japanese woman

I heard a theory awhile back that I found quite interesting. In Very Little Nightmares, we can find a family portrait of the Pretender and her parents. However, due to how short the Pretender is, we’re only able to see their legs. But their clothes match The Thin Man and The Teacher. The theory is that time works differently inside the Signal Tower, so Mono grew up into The Thin Man, married The Teacher, and The Pretender is his kid. It also theorized that he was The Hanging Man, and that after The Pretender was “killed” by Six, he brought her onto The Maw as revenge, before offing himself out of grief. It was a few years ago so I might be missing a few details.

I hope the Barber is in the third little nightmares game.
  • Kid: " So I grow up become a monster? Okay, I will just retreat to the forest only hunting animals."

My best guess for what those things in the principals head are, is some kind of fungus. Those tendrils remind me a lot of parasitic mushrooms like cordyceps in particular
