I would have jumped on it but they decided to screw all us US starlink customers.

There may be a problem with RV's using the mini. It appears the mini-dish is now a theft item since it's got the router in it. Is there anything that prevents someone from hacking the dish and resetting it to be used by others if they sign up with Starlink? Please do an episode on that, curious minds want to to know.

The minimum wage in Brazil is around $293, which is why the cost of services like Starlink needs to be lower in Latin American countries. In the United States, where the minimum wage is significantly higher, the prices can be justified to some extent. However, the issue ultimately boils down to supply and demand. If I had a higher income, I would prefer to pay more for high-quality internet. In Europe, where minimum wages are generally higher, charging more might also be justifiable. Nonetheless, pricing strategies should consider the economic realities of each region. While the cost might seem steep in the US, it's essential to understand the global context and income disparities across different regions.

Australia: The Mini is listed in the Starlink shop, but not available to buy yet. Only Gen 3 and High Performance dish is available 27 Jul 24.

Income is generally much higher in the US than Europe, Africa or Latin America. You have way more disposable income! Business is business, supply and demand.

I don't get those speeds with my home v2 dish. Clear skys, clean install, fresh reboot and only get 93 down it my top here in Missouri

Hi Joe,🙋🏼 I think that in Europe, rural areas are generally smaller, and the deployment of fiber is progressing well. Additionally, in most cases, a good 4G internet connection is available as a reliable alternative to avoid slow copper-wired xDSL connections, although sometimes an external antenna is needed. The average price for fiber internet with a TV box in France is around €40/month, and for €15/month, you can get a mobile SIM with 300GB of data. Therefore, I believe Starlink needs to keep its prices low, or every satellite passing by in the sky without data transfers is like an empty truck driving on the road. We are very close to seeing starlink in Tesla cars. That is going to be quite a large customer for spaceX they will probably end up, offering it to The entire automotive industry that is freaking huge

If Elon understands one thing, it's business. The law of supply and demand. Given a limited resource (Starlink data capacity), demand sets the price, and there's a lot of demand in the USA. When SpaceX gets more/higher capacity satellites in orbit, and capacity increases, the service price will drop to stimulate more demand.

In Europe we have really good mobile network coverage and speed, even in remote places. And prices for mobile internet are low. So Starlink needs to compete and justify even 59 EUR price tag.

We are Australians on a sailing boat in the Mediterranean and have been waiting for the mini to become available in Europe as we needed the low power consumption and 12v DC. We will start with the 50GB package as we both have great cellphone packages in Italy (180GB/mth for 10€), but will upgrade to the unlimited package once we lose cellphone coverage. I just ordered Starlink yesterday. I would have purchased the mini but could not justify the extra $100.00 for it. I will be using this in our motorhome as we travel 7 months out of the year. Looking forward to receiving it & trying it out.
