Put across so well, and something that should be shown nationwide, as it take a bit of shock treatment to hammer into people how much chewing and smoking puts you at risk.
  • A pleasant young man. Sad that he should have to fight this. Hope things turn out well for him.
  • I hear exactly where you are coming from big time. You see I smoked for many years and unfortunately damaged my heart! They can not fix my heart. There will be no heart transplant. I unfortunately am going to die and it’s my own fault. Believe me this is a very bitter pill to swallow. The day the doctor told me that I am going to die was the worst day of my life for real. My advice to anyone that thinks about smoking or dipping, please please don’t as it’s not worth the price you may have to pay. If you do smoke QUIT immediately!

About 5 years ago, my husband, Larry Y, had a left radial V-flap...Dr Peter Anderson at OHSU was his last surgeon. He began having oral cancer when he was 35 yrs old back in 1985 when he had his first surgery and radiation treatments. He had squamis cell carcinoma T-4...a doctor refused to take action and it grew from size of half grain rice to large grape. Our regular Dr was on vacation 6 weeks and Dr Bad had been "caring for Dr Greats" patients and when our doctor returned from leave he took immediate action, referred to ENT, for biopsy, None of the doctors could believe that my very healthy non smoking, non drinking husband had cancer...sadly they were horribly wrong and life as we knew it changed drastically. Its come back numerous times and he's had 5 major surgeries...the last one was a doozy where they removed the floor of his mouth and most of his tongue...the last 3 surgeries were fraught with bleeding issues that nearly took him.  Its been 5 yrs now and he's still alive, just retired from 40 yrs with Motorola as their #1 systems engineer. Larry is very careful with his diet, eats a vegan, plant based diet and seems to be healthy now except when he eats, he chokes, coughs and sometimes vomits when food goes down the wrong way as the inside and back of his new "tongue" is completely numb...needless to say, mealtime is a nightmare around here and its getting worse...much worse....Dr Anderson doesn't have any solutions. Do you have any suggestions? I'm terribly worried about my dear Larry.
