Strat: 1.Sell Texas to a foreign power 2.Wait for the entire state to revolt 3. re-annex Texas 4. profit???
-
I think the declaration of Independence covers this quite clearly... Any state can leave the union. With enough force and violence
-
Interesting fact: A piece of California was temporarily independent for a few days from New Spain...under an Argentine flag Argentina sent a two-ship expedition led by Hipólito Bouchard to Monterey (what was once the capital of California) as part of their war for independence by countering the Spanish at their own game. After an attack on a fort failed, they made it on land the next day and the Spanish forces were no match. For five days, an Argentine flag was raised over Monterey

I'd always heard the Texas constitution allows us to secede from the union. So, one day I sat down and read it. Nothing like that in the constitution that I could find.

1:21 I love how Washington pays more to Washington than Washington does to them

As an Austinite, I genuinely laughed out loud when one of the five separate states of Texas was “Austin.”

Hawaii was a Independent Nation before America annexed it and is still occupying the Hawaiian Peoples land

1:04 I'm so happy he put the correct flag ratios.

You see ... the funny thing about those who want to separate themselves from a union, they don't care if it's *legal*, the fact that they want to secede means that they're already up for a fight
-
As a Canadian, I'd love a video covering Quebec seperatists.

2:46 damn the bravest solider in that portrait is that creeper on the left

A state seceding from the US would be an incredible turn of history to wittness.

The other huge issue that recent years have shown is power. Im not sure Texas would be able to isolate and support itself electrically from the rest of the US. Its already struggling with even the imported power that it currently takes (mostly because its DC links are hugely under capacity needed and outdated at best)
