Blue Wind Jeff Beck Tribute with A.I Art | Gene's Jazz ROCK Jam 11
Keyboardist Gene (Gwiz) Williams tribute to the legendary guitarist, Jeff Beck who passed the week at the age of 78. Becks collaborations with Jan Hammer were a great influence on me. Wired, Blow by Blow and There and Back were like the holy trinity of Jazz Rock albums. This keytar cover of the classic Blue Wind includes me jamming over Jan's original Drum and bass tracks, so I'm already demonetized. But that's not the purpose of this project. These guys were my heroes, so if you like the tribute, a comment and thumbs up is fine with me. You can subscribe to Jamaicafunk on YouTube too. A.I artwork in this video was created with Playground.org and Text to Art.

  • I was surfing the net one night when suddenly I saw the title of an article stating that Jeff had passed away; I was shocked. I came to know of him through my readings on Hendrix years ago as was so often the case for me back then. I've had more than one friend who were huge Beck fans like my boss in Saudi. Art, don't know anything about him. Jeff was really talented and unique. I always admired that he had an outlet that I think kept him sane and out of so much craziness. He loved and spent tons of time fixing up antique cars. I'd read that he still found inspiration in Jimi and that he had people who had provided him with a lot of Hendrix music, jams, outtakes, etc. I wonder what will happen to those jams now that he's gone. Looks like Clapton and Page are among the last standing of that 60s generation of rock/blues/fusion guitarists. Beck was also smart in my opinion to go in a jazz fusion direction. He really gave credit to John McLaughlin for that. Lastly Beck said that he regretted that he did not have one single photo of he and Jimi together despite the fact that they hung out a bit and jammed together especially in New York. Beck said he couldn't hang with Jimi cause it seemed like Jimi never slowed down. "After about 4 days of hanging with him I was spent. He'd rest for a very short time and then be off somewhere else. I was exhausted and need a break and a lot of sleep so I returned to England." That shouldn't be an exact quote, but a paraphrase. Now let me go look up A.I Art
