it is 4-14-2024 and I am listening everyday I can never get enough ! I first heard her as an 11 year old now I am 55. She will always be so good Thank God for her music.

it's 1/23/24 - who's still listening to Rickie Lee?

Still listening in 2024, 1st heard this in 1979, 4th grade, instantly fell in love with this song. This was before MTV LOL, all we had was radio and imagination back then.

I worked with Rickie’s Mom (Bettye) for a few years back in the early 1980s. I really was not that familiar with Rickie’s music other than Chuck E’s in Love. I had no idea that Bettye was her mother until one day she mentioned that she was going to lunch with her daughter who was in town. She ask me if I ever heard of Rickie and I told her that I knew her song Chuck E’s in Love. She gave me Rickie’s Cassette Tapes and that night I listened to her music. I was completely blown away 😊 Soon after that day Rickie came to visit her mom at work and introduced us. Rickie was sweet and engaging 😊 She told me that one of her back up singers who was a man just as I am is also named Leslie Smith. From that day forward I had several conversations with Rickie whenever she would visit her mom. She is truly a sweet and gifted talent. I am honored to have met her.

Saw Ricki sing last night in Berkeley at the Freight & Salvage. She's still got it going on.

She could swing her voice better than Sinatra. No lie. The way she actually sings around the rhythm with her voice. Pushes at time, lagging other times. And making it work. Perfection.
