IDEA: Travel from the Alphabetically 1st station to the last one.
  • @JoeTW67
2:44 you should make a series visiting abandoned platforms and look at their past and what they were used for.

The unadvertised stop at Selhurst is fairly normal on most Saturday afternoons, to deter people from using Selhurst station when Crystal Palace FC are playing at home due to the fact it cant handle large crowds

This great little video brought back some good memories for Christmas! Back in the early 1980s I lived close to East Croydon. I moved to Sydenham in 1987, then near Sydenham Hill in 2000 (my closest station would have been Crystal Palace [High Level] which was built to be even grander than the surviving Low Level station) and finally to Manchester in 2019. When living at Sydenham in pre-Oystercard and Overground days, Penge East was at the other end of my road. I tried applying for an annual season from Penge East to Penge West via London Terminals. Sadly, the answer was no. There are, of course, several pointless journey opportunities between Sydenham and Sydenham Hill. The expert track-basher’s one, if you time it right, is Sydenham-Crystal Palace/Norwood Junction-Streatham Hill-Tulse Hill-Herne Hill-Sydenham Hill. Or you could do what most people do and take the 450 bus. 😁 Merry Christmas and Happy travels in 2024!

As far as I recall, the unadvertised stop at Selhurst is due to it dropping and picking up of staff from the nearby Selhurst Depot

Ahh, Sydenham, my hometown. +1 for the missed opportunity to have included Lower Sydenham, which could have been done by a further train from Sydenham Hill to Kent House, short walk to Clock House, then two more stops to Lower Sydenham
  • @fussyboy2000
Now do Sydenham NIR - Sydenham NR. You missed out going via Sutton, or changing at Birkbeck for the train into Beckenham Junction.

Maybe you could go from Waterloo (Merseyside) to Waterloo (Belgium) possibly via Waterloo station in London. Thought it'd be cool

Blackhorse Road To Blackhorse Lane Or Woolwich to Woolwich Arsenal (50 meters apart from each other)😊

Ah, the three musketeers are in train mood again. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas especially you Nick, for coming up with all these "pointless" ideas.
  • I once went to a wedding in London, and it was interesting listening to all the London people at the reception saying "How did you get here?" with replies like "We changed at Wimbledon onto the District Line" then - "Really, how interesting, how long did it take?" After property prices, it seemed the second most popular thing Londoners talk about is how to get from A to B. (The reception was in Chiswick btw).

You could have done a first in this series and linked THREE stations. There is a third Sydenham, Lower Sydenham on the Hayes line. Also seeing you call at at Beckenham Junction you could go from there to New Beckenham

Brilliant video Nick and brilliant to see Coastway Will in this as well. Lol, I've found Croydon to be quite tame everytime I've visited there.

A year ago, there used to be one train each weekday of the London Bridge - Caterham via Streatham 75 that went non-stop from Streatham Common to Selhurst, skipping Norbury and Thornton Heath. I went on the last run of this to be operated with a class 455, & the driver out of habit stopped at Norbury anyway, and someone got on & asked me where the train was going. The driver then realised he was supposed to be the fast service & skipped Thornton Heath.
  • @CelticGoals
It's funny how many different ways you could do this Easiest being go to penge West and walk to penge east Or crystal palace to Beckenham to sydenham Hill or sydenham to crystal palace to Tulse Hill to Herne Hill (which would allow some class 700 action) to Sydenham Hill, i can think of about 10 other ways too
  • @JBMtravels
Mate you are at my local train stations..... I love your channel and content. Keep up the great work 💪
  • @JoeTW67
For a Point to Point, you could do Skipton to Shipton.
  • @Nooticus
Great route from Will, though I expected you might've done Balham, northern line to stockwell, victoria line to brixton, then southeastern to sydenham hill!
  • @Liam-js6di
You could have skipped Balham and West Croydon and got the direct train from Crystal Palace to Beckenham Junction. Lots of route combinations possible in South London!
  • @nigelkthomas9501
The first step of your journey from Sydenham to Crystal Palace used to be very difficult at one time. Only a token peak hour service used to use that line.
