As a someone who was born and raised here, STAY ON THE FUCKING PATH AND OFF OF SELFIE ROCK.
  • @Don-md6wn
I was at the South Rim (and North Rim) last year and the number of people walking out on rocks jutting out to take selfies and sit with their legs dangling over drops of hundreds of feet was ridiculous.
  • People do crazy stuff i have been there and seen people sitting on the edge completly ignoring the danger.
  • Some people exist just to show the rest of humanity that being stupid isn't cool.
  • What investigation? He crawled to the edge where he wasn't supposed to be and gravity took over from there. Poor guy, but common sense does tend to prevail where cliffs and long drops are concerned.

You got to be careful when you walking the Grand Canyon trails because theirs is not outside railings.
  • Born in Flagstaff, and I go to the Canyon about 4 times a year. I've tried telling people a few times that they're thumbing their nose at death when they jump the rails/walls. No one cares to listen. Now when I see stupid sh!t going on, I just turn around and walk away.

Darwin wins again. Young and invincible kids are gonna be young and invincible kids.
  • College student? The curriculum must not have covered gravity yet.
  • @fattone166
Too bad, 400 ft allows for a lot of time to think about what just happened.

Stupid can be fatal. The is no appeal process for the law of gravity.
  • As they say, it's not the fall that gets ya, it's the sudden stop at the end.
  • I'm going to look over the side mom, don't worry I'll be fine........
  • @mizzury54
I've been to the Grand Canyon several times. It's hard to fall over the edge if you simply stay behind the railings and boundaries. And the views are all just fine from there.
  • How is cleaning the gene pool a tragedy? Just sayin, I've been there. You have to actually try to wind up like this. Regardless I have sympathy for the family and sorry it happened.
  • @adamb89
And the world is better off. It's literally impossible to die there unless you're a bona fide idiot who ignores ALL the instructions. This was a win for everyone, especially his family, which they will likely come to realize after the initial shock passes.
  • @jennifer-joey
with all the warning signs placed around i have no sympathy don't act a fool and you wont fall off a cliff

We were there and a guy jumped to a small, I guess you’d call it a rock mountain about 10 feet in diameter, then jumped back to where everyone was standing. He easily could have missed that rock and it would have been over for him. Wildest thing I’ve ever seen in my 56 years!
