Leo didn't create launch coverage for Intel 14th Gen when it launched, even though he had the processors in hand. He explains why, and takes the time to produce what we would consider more 'interesting' content focusing around the latest key Gigabyte Z790 Aorus motherboards.

The two boards are:
Z790 Aorus Master X £599.99
Z790 Aorus Pro X £419.99

I really like how this channel looks & covers motherboards. I feel a lot of channels don’t cover them enough and they are one of my fav parts lmao . The z790 master & master x look tremendous.

What I absolutely love about the Pro X is the USB-C with DP Alt-Mode. It means I can have a graphics tablet attached with ONLY a single USB-C cable instead of the previous need for 3 cables... The only other MB that can do this (Z690/Z790) is the proart creator. I went with Dominator Titanium 96GB 6400 kit and it works flawlessly with XMP, it's not on their QVL - but as the manufacturers say, they just don't get to test every single RAM kit. Amazingly, I scored 37 000 multicore in R23, MCE off.
  • Leo, thanks for your great reviews. It's a solid channel for builders that need verification and insights to specifications prior to committing to builds. I have been using GIGABYTE exclusively for motherboards and GPUs and CORSAIR for everything related to cases, PSUs, cooling etc., and a, switching between G.SKILL and CORSAIR for memory. It's always been solid components for reliable builds, suitable for a great many years of service and I highly recommend these hardware vendors.
  • Hi Leo, very informative and good focus on Gigabyte boards, I have had good success with gigabyte in recent years, I like that Master X but its very expensive, the Pro X looks like a more sensible solution and would be ideal for a new white themed build.

The heatsinks on the VRMs and primery m.2 are massive!
  • Great article, that gigabyte board in white is lovely, glad you focused on it Leo, might factor it into my new white build after new year.
  • That USB-C for a case display is a really good idea. All PCs should have a display built into the case cant believe it’s taken so long to do.

Mr Leo, i admire the restraint with refraining from doing a review of 14th gen instead of what many other reviewers did which were basically just brand slander video's. The vast majority of people don't really care about all the bias driven brand mudslinging that often happens in the PC enthusiasm space. We all have our preferences and opinions which is absolutely fine. However, when producing video's, it would appear most professional to not allow opinions to trickle in these videos. In my opinion, personal preference of the reviewer matters not to me and when reviewers use that opinion to influence their audience is when their content looses it honesty and reliability. So it is on these points that i say that this video is a shining example of how reviews should be made and the content on display in this presentation is made in the manner which it should be. I couldn't ask for a better tech video. Intel nor AMD needs to be the best all around all the time and i personally don't want to see content where one brand is placed on a pedestal over another. Double thumbs up from me.
  • Another cracking focus Leo, Ok surely im not the only one who thinks that matching WHITE BIOS IS KILLER!? 🤯
  • TY. BIOS updated my Z690s but am thinking I'll just not upgrade them, will think about it again down the road.
  • @SergeWorks
Thank you for the review. Could you please share more info how MSI z790 carbon wifi managed to be at the top while using less watts. Thought it was a pretty huge deal, did you undervolt the cpu for that particular test ? I know the review is about different boards but carbon stood out in that instance, thank you
  • @mareksobecki
Awesome channel by the way. I'm in the process of planning a new build with an I9 14900K and was interested in the AORUS PROX or MASTERX. You mentioned about undervolting the processor. Saw one of your videos where you did this on an MSI board showing the BIOS screens. Would you be kind enough either to show how you do this on the GIGABYTE BIOS for these boards (maybe in your next PC build you mentioned at the end of the video), or could you point me to what settings you need to change and values to put in and I can work it out from there. Thanks in advance,
  • @Kapono5150
Iv recently switched to a Gigabyte motherboard and really liked it so far. I miss the Asus BIOS tho
  • @Haistroff
The completely white motherboards look really beautiful! I have a slight hope that this will become a trend of some sort
  • What Bios Configs did you use for the tests? You changed any setups in Bios? Or did you left all at the default? Or did you just use the "Instant 6ghz" settings in Bios?
  • @Oceanborn712
Great video as always. Can anyone tell me if the 14th gen CPUs just slot into older mainboards that support 13th gen, though? So far the BIOSes I've looked at don't mention any support for new CPUs and I am still stuck at thinking about making a Sonic build with the ASRock Z790 PG Sonic and with 13th and 14th gen CPUs being virtually identical in price, I'd kinda feel bad about using 13th just to be on the safe side.
  • @spewp
Not that it particularly matters for this video.. but when you have an M.2 drive in the top slot you're giving up 8 PCI lanes shared with the top PCI-E slot. So the 4080 in this demo was running in X8 mode. This seems quite ridiculous since the top M.2 slot has the 'best' cooling solution attached.
