When discussing who is the anime version of Superman, most people land on Goku. While their origins and powers are similar, Goku is in no way meant to be the anime equivalent of the Man of Steel. This video will discuss anime's true counterpart for the Man of Tomorrow, All Might from My Hero Academia, and what makes him Superman Done Right.

If all Superman is to you is “power,” then you see him the same way Lex Luthor does.
  • i think Superman represents humanity's morals Goku represents humanity's ambitions
  • I also really like how MHA is like “what if Superman was being forced to retire like Lightning McQueen and is teaching Spider-Man to replace him”
  • "The S on that chest stands for hope." Ironically Superman's powers are arguably the least important thing about him. The incorruptable kind, hopeful, and forgiving person who always does what is right is what makes superman unique. The thing I enjoy most is that Superman is a character that spits in the face of cynicism infesting everything in moderm media. A proud idealist seeing the best in things

I was worried that the twist with All Might was going to be “he’s actually an asshole.” I think it’s ingenious that All Might is “what if Superman was ashamed of Clark Kent.” All Might clearly takes great lengths to ensure he maintains the typical Superman persona. He never shows himself in his true form. In reality he’s standoffish, reserved and awkward. He’s the symbol of peace and if anyone were to figure out who he really was, that symbol would be damaged.
  • Honestly, I think one of the most compelling things about All Might is the way we are first introduced to him. Its not an epic ongoing battle or heroic victory. Its a simple video of him saving people, carrying scores of people out of a burning ruin on his back, with a smile.

One thing I think you could've touched on when showing that Goku is NOT a symbol of hope in his universe is the spirit bomb used against Buu. Goku needs to use the spirit bomb to defeat Buu, and for that he needs the energy of every human on Earth. But they don't know who the heck Goku is, so they don't trust him with their energy. But then HERCULE(Or Mr. Satan) asks, and he IS their symbol of hope, so they gladly share their energy for him.
  • Lmao "removing fighting from Goku would just be removing Goku from Goku. You're just left with Gohan" that's so foul 😂
  • @TapaniLastellar
goku would rather risk the world to have a better challenge with the opponent which also made it more fun to read. And he never labeled himself as a superman. All might is superman done right!

Special shout out to the Kents who clearly succeeded at the gentle parent method with their son, allowing him to grow up as an emotionally regulated and empathic man.
  • I HATE the "What if Superman was evil" crap we've been getting, and even the Superman from the recent movies is just too dark and brooding. That isn't Superman. He's supposed to be a symbol of hope, kind, caring, a cornball sometimes. Optimistic. That's Superman. I want a colorful, optimistic Superman movie.

Respect to you sir, you did All Might, Goku, and Superman justice. What a lot of people don’t understand is the Characters of “Superhero types”. However what a lot of people get wrong about Goku is that “He’s just a guy who enjoys fighting.” This isn’t an incorrect statement but they leave out Goku’s core characteristics of Responsibility and Discipline. A lot of people clown Goku for the cell saga because he gave Cell a senzu bean, but they leave out that he did it because he believes in his son, not to mention that he took accountability and died for him. Goku even decides to stay dead after realizing that most bad things happen because of his existence, which leads to peace. Notice how Gohan is never super angry at Goku for any of his faults. W video, you earned a subscription.

But Superman has a completely different goal from Goku. Goku just wants to become strong while Superman wants to help people.
  • The old adaption of FMA had a great scene: Alphonse puts his hands up and says: "Please don't shoot at me! The bullet might ricochet and hurt someone!" They don't listen and it ricochets and hurts someone.

Okay, a lot of people hate on All Might for the rooftop scene where he told Izuku he couldn’t be a hero, I don’t. He could have handled it better, I admit. But he said nothing wrong. And it wasn’t like he knew right then he would be a worthy candidate for his quirk. I believe he wanted to say the best thing, and the best thing was that Izuku couldn’t do that much without a quirk compared to those with powerful quirks. He’s always tried to do what was best for everyone around him. I love All Might 😊

Honestly, the opening to this video is a perfect explanation as to why I hate discussions about Superman online. It's almost always "Can he beat this character?" And never about Superman as a character. It's always his strength, which devalues him. Well that and the fact that Power Scalers seem to ignore if you specify a very specific version of Superman. Like "Can Milkman Superman beat Goku?" The discussion starts as such...before devolving into other versions of Superman, like Injustice and Superman Prime 1 Million, and so on and so forth and it stops being engaging. But soon as you decide "Okay screw Manga Goku, I'm gonna bring up Xeno Goku" those same Power Scalers will be on your ass like "No no no! You were talking about Manga Goku! You can't bring Xeno Goku into this!" Like they didn't just switch from debating about Milkman Superman to Superman Prime 1 Million themselves...

The funny thing is I found a tweet quoting an interview from the author who actually said he primarily based All Might on Goku and Spider-Man. His bases for Goku was how when Goku arrived everyone was reassured everything was going to be ok. He put Goku’s arrival on Namek as an example. This being a big part of All Mights “I am Here” piece of his character. know exactly what the interview was since I found it on a tweet but the tweet added this at the beginning “@ #SDCC18
