How to screw over Morty : 1. Have a normal-type 2. Have it paralyzed before the fight begins 3. Send it against Gengar There, now Hypnosis (and by extension Dream Eater) is useless. And since you're a normal-type, Shadow Ball is useless too.

I can now only imagine Sentret struggling to hop through the Whirl Islands with the player holding onto it's tail with their face stuffed in the water.
  • @merafntz20
Note: GS Ball can only be received in the Virtual Console version of Crystal
  • @LePapillonBrise
"Crystal encounters Suicune again, and Eustine battles is to prove to Suicune he can't battle." I died at that -

Please, please, please, add a bing sound when you get a new pokemon for the pokedex total, it doesnt have to be loud or distracting, but i'd love to just hear a tiny bing whenever you get a new pokemon.

Johnstone: It's very hard to catch 'em all in Gen II Spiritomb, Vespiquen, and Munchlax in Gen IV: Allow us to introduce ourselves.

Sentret is able to learn surf because its name is an acronym. S- Surf E- N- T- R- E- T- that's it.
  • "GameFreak seemed really intent on increasing the longevity of these games" Well, considering GameFreak and Pokemon thought Gold, Silver and Crystal were going to be the last games in the series, so it does makes sense for these games to be really long. That's why we have the final battle with Red at the end. It was supposed to be the final battle. Obviously these games sold really well and so we got gen 3 not long after. And also, the odd egg you get from the DayCare has a really high shiny chance. I can't remember the exact percentage but I personally was able to get a shiny Pichu from the egg, which I was so happy about! I was able to have a electric type in Crystal early on considering in Crystal it's really hard to get a good electric type. You can't get the Mareep line in Crystal which I can't still wrap my head around considering you can get it in the other two and the Amphrados story-line is kept in.

Tbh the only reason I'm commenting is so the rival will be named after me in the next game ;)
  • @mccoyward3761
I remember playing these games when I was really young and it said the rivals name is ??? So, being the dumb kid I was I told the people in the lab his name was "???" -_-.. Edit: sure are a lot of people who like my stupidity, thx tho
  • I'm working on my Pokedex in Silver. A real cartridge of Silver. It's kind of amazing how much work is involved. Luckily all I'm missing now are Raikou and Entei... Unfortunately I haven't seen either of them yet...
  • @Zeturic
What's funny is that I actually always name the GSC Rival John, because Giovanni is the Italian equivalent of John and I like the idea of him being sort of named after his father.

In gold and silver Bill gives you an Eevee when you go to his house after meeting him for the first time, which is the best pokemon to use against Morty's Gengar due to it being unable to be attacked by ghost pokemon. The only downside is if he blocks eevee from being switched you need a non-normal type move taught to deal damage(While taking 0 damage from Gengar). I made this mistake the first time around and had to finish off his Gengar with Struggle after blowing thru Sand Attack, Growl, and Tail Whip PP.

good luck finding munchlax in 4th gen in under 24 hours
  • @JoseCruz-dk3fi
You definitely won my sub, I can't imagine how hard this was to make. Excellent job, amazing quality.
  • @arunraman6630
I did a solo run with the Chikorita evolution line and I beat Morty. I just razor leafed his ass while refueling with potions constantly. It took hours of trying but it WAS possible.
  • 10:58 just a small correction, bayleef is able to learn mud slap from the tm 31 you get from faulkner. The ghastly line are dual types of poison and ghost, poison types have a weakness to ground type moves. A bayleef with mud slap should be ok against morty
  • @bvd_vlvd
7:54 "Whitney's hard for people who don't know how to fight her" While this is true Poison powder, Reflect and Synthesis make Bayleef incomparably best starter against her Miltank Again, it's a defensive pokemon whose best set has three status moves, but if you like that style it's easily the best one for elite four

Just wanted to leave a comment on the Legendary Beasts. A method I used as a child, and seemingly always worked was immediately as you set them into the wild, one beast will be in each of the routes adjacent from that town. Entei is usually to the East in route 42 Suicune is usually to the South in route 37, and Raikou is usually to the West in route 38. Using Gold and Silver, I could consistently get Entei and Raikou immediately by save scumming and just chucking balls and praying. Then get Suicune in Crystal. (Note, Raikou and Suicune routes could be reversed. I'm struggling to remember which was where. But Entei is almost always in route 42 after leaving the tower.)
