In this video, we'll overview the Apocrypha: texts that were left out of the Bible. From the Old Testament: Enoch, Jubilees, Bel and the Dragon; to the New Testament: The Gospel of Judas, Mary and Thomas. For one reason or another, these texts were excluded from Biblical Canon.

Now, this is not an exhaustive list. There are many, MANY, books in the Apocrypha. We're really just at the tip of the iceberg and sampling some of the most prominent texts. This is just an introduction after all. I'd love to go into more detail into these books such as Enoch and the Gospel of Judas. Let me know what you'd like to see in the comments below.

This video marks the start of Season II. Thank you for your patience, I can't wait to surprise you with more obscure topics that deserve more attention...

Ah, the BEU - Biblical Extended Universe.
  • @karpsplash6458
the bible fanfiction got so out of hand that a group of fans gathered together in a convention to decide what is and isn't canon
  • I remember being TERRIFIED as a kid when I heard of the gospel according to Peter. I was raised thinking that Elohim has magickally preserved the bible, so the existence of a text which claimed to be holy but wasn’t in the bible made me question how we really knew the books actually in the bible were holy. It was a scary time for a 9 year old
  • The image of a dude shoving cakes down a dragon's throat until it chokes on said cakes is fucking hilarious to me.
  • @akanji8285
I feel like if the dude “walked with God” he might have had some important stuff to include in the bible

I saw Apocrypha and automatically thought "Hermaeus Mora?" I would really like to have a Bible with every single book nothing cut out I want the real book

This is really interesting to me because in middle school I had a kid from Ethiopia in my class who's name was Enoch (he insisted everyone call him Mr. Enoch) and now that I'm learning that the Ethiopian church consideres the book of Enoch canon and is responsible for preserving it. Neat.

Would anybody else like to learn more about the book of Enoch? It seems pretty cool since it includes demons and things like nephilim

3:34 "Surprisingly however, is not with a sword, but by feeding it enough cakes to cause it to explode" Wheck-it-Ralph 2 intensifies
  • The fact you don’t have 5 million subscribers is insane. You provide such informational videos that are presented perfectly and all of the information is so interesting and delivered in an engaging format.
  • @julieyoung3815
Do commentary on all the apocrypha books . Explain one book at a time . That would be fascinating.

Don’t know how I found this channel, but I’m glad I did.
  • I'm neither religious or someone who studies the Bible, but I find your videos fascinating from a historical point of view - how things come to take on the meaning and identity we give them now, and how the Bible has been put together through numerous component books and authors into how we know it today... Your tone and presentation is informative and well balanced to enable a layman like myself to learn, and provides plenty of food for thought. Many thanks for your hard work and efforts.
  • I've wanted to find a channel like this for a while. I've always loved lore and wanted to explore the mythology side of Christianity without having to actually follow the new age version of religion
  • @Katholikos78
Only known as “Apocrypha” to Protestants. Those books have always been in our Old Testament Canon in the East. I’m Orthodox.
  • as a Catholic I just want to say that this was a good video, thank you for not dissing anyone's faith and keeping the 3rd person view throughout the video. I learned some new things too and I did want to say that you got a lot of information correct on the Catholic Bible, keep up the great work
