Why is Tim Walz, a 60-year-old dad from Minnesota, so internet savvy? And why is he so good at making right wingers look not just weird, but also extremely, chronically and dangerously online? Jon and Max discuss the meme appeal of Harris’ new VP pick, why Republicans are sinking deeper into weirdness with transphobic attacks on Olympians, and what X’s latest legal tantrum is really about.

Crooked believes that we need a better conversation about politics, culture, and the world around us—one that doesn’t just focus on what’s broken, but what we can do to fix it. At a time when it’s increasingly easy to feel cynical or hopeless, former Obama staffers Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor have created a place where people can have sane conversations that inform, entertain, and inspire action. In 2017 they started Crooked with Pod Save America—a no-bullshit conversation about politics. Since then, we continue to add shows, voices, and opportunities for activism, because it’s up to all of us to do our part to build a better world. That’s it. End of mission.

  • As a 73 year old white Christian lady from North Carolina, I am voting for Joy not Doom and Gloom, Democracy not Dictators, Wealth Balance not Facism, Progress not Regression, and a great future for younger generations! HARRIS/WALZ 2024! BLUE TSUNAMI ON NOVEMBER 5, 2024!
  • “What a monster. Kids are eating and having full bellies so they can go learn, and women are making their own healthcare decisions" is when I fell in love with Walz. Unapologetic about his progressive street cred.
  • Walz is also being authentic. There is no artifice to this guy. Social media is starving for this; no production, just reality.
  • @taram9866
If you care about the national security of America, you will want Coach Walz as our VP! 💙🇺🇸
  • @HKim0072
I just randomly saw the People article that Walz's son has a non-verbal learning disorder, ADHD and an anxiety disorder. Feels like this guy has experienced nearly everything in normal American life.
  • @janluke4076
It gives us 60 year olds hope that we can still do something incredible! Walz is relatable! It’s never too late to make a difference. Kamala/Walz 2024🔥🇺🇸💙🔥🇺🇸💙🔥🇺🇸💙
  • Im so proud of my Governor. As a Minnesotan I can testify that he has significantly improved our way of life. He refused to give himself a pay raise. He dont own any stocks or bonds. He's not even a millionaire. He's one of us. A regular joe.
  • @dh1380
As a British man who doesn't have a dog in the fight or a horse in the race, all I can say is MIND YOUR OWN DAMN BUSINESS is absolutely the best thing yet
  • Tim Walz is everyone's favorite teacher who genuinely cares about every student. He's the neighbor who isn't in your business but will come out to help when your car won't start and you're getting desperate. He's a guy who owns his mistakes and works to fix them and owns his successes even when people criticize them. What more could you want in a leader?
  • @IrisNelson
Tim Walz is a fantastic VP pick; he is funny and genuine.
  • @ryansproviero
Waiting for Walz to take a day off from the campaign so he can head home to cut his lawn, take out the trash, and do a repair to his gutters.
  • @thedylangirl
People are forgetting a very important fact about Kamala Harris; as a prosecutor, she had to assess which witnesses she would put on the stand to appeal to a jury of American citizens (of varied backgrounds and affinities) and convince them to side with her. Her choosing Tim Walz proves she’s still making strong assessments. Not to mention, their chemistry feels genuinely joyful. I, for one, am not going back …to hatefulness.
  • @warpthumr47
It's not "making" them "seem" creepy & weird. They ARE creepy & weird.
  • @jefff7287
Everyone says we just need "common sense" in politics. Gov. Walz is common sense in human form, and the GOP can't handle how much sense he makes.
  • @stacywacy4995
VP Harris and Governor Walz are the team we need at this moment. This isn't 2009 and it isn't 2016. So much has changed since then. Roe v Wade gone, women's healthcare providers are quitting, Affirmative Action gone, the Supreme Court 6 has made it their gig to protect one man and make him an Imperial President, the Republican led 118th Congress has shown they are ineffective and only serve one man, the Republican nominee was found Trump liable for sexually abusing and defaming E. Jean Carroll/34 counts of falsifying business records/he refused a peaceful transfer of power and tried to overthrow the government. Nothing about the Republican nominee is like the previous elections.
  • Harris & Walz will hopefully hold the spotlight until November. 💙💫
  • Coach Walz has a middle America demeanor that is down to earth and very likeable He balances the Harris ticket perfectly
  • @NeungView
Because they ARE weird and extreme. Don't forget that Bernie Sanders is middle of the road in most countries in Europe.😮
  • I think that Gov. Walz's speaking ability is a combination of enthused teacher and motivating coach. As a retired teacher, I have heard this before.
