I turned 20 in 1980. Everything used to close at midday Saturday and so Perth had a lovely relaxed slow paced feeling to it from Saturday arvo until Monday morning. Weekends were truly relaxing then. We were happier.

The clean and bright city of my youth.
-
A time when the AMP tower was the largest building in Perth. You can barely even see it now amongst the giant structures that surround it.
-
I remember the Mitchell freeway being built and I was the first person to drive on it with my go kart when I was 12 :) Before that there was all bush. near Karrinyup rd

-
I wish we still had perth the way it was in that video, instead of what we've got now. YUCK.
-
When 'going into town' to see the Christmas lights was fun and you could hear the paper boys on the corner of Forrest Place calling out 'Daily news... paper!' And when there were enough shops open and in business in Hay St mall to actually go shopping in the city. It's all a bit of a wasteland now.

Yeah I remember those days traffic jam was like 6 cars
-
I would of been in grade 6, Maylands.

Notice no vagabonds laying around like now.

Spooksville ! The change is significant. Mainly caucasians enjoying the spiils and thrills of besides the foreign naval men lol Awesome footage nonetheless.
