  • The problem with Cyclops in the movies is they clearly didn’t know what to do with him, & he got shafted by Wolverine. This is why I hope that the MCU Wolverine gets his own standalone films so he has his place to shine, & when he’s present in the X-Men movies, he’s a supporting character, Cyclops gets to be the leader of the team as he should be.

I think this series just proves "superhero fatigue" isn't a thing. Bad show fatigue is a thing.

Turns out the secret to making Cyclops a good character, was to put in literally any kind of effort with him. A truly shocking discovery.

Cyclops should be like john wick with laser eyes. Hes a brilliant strategist, excellent leader and his combat skills are severly underrated. This show has given cyclops more respect than every single X-Men film combined.

This Cyclops right here is the one we wanted. He has redeeming qualities. In the show, when Maddie was revealed as a clone. Scott wasn’t dismissive of her, he acknowledged that his son still needs his mother in his life. He is willing to admit when he’s wrong

"Give him the forecast" is such a stupid, fun and awesome line
  • One of the things I loved in the comics is that Cyke uses his optic blast as Captain America uses his shield. When he ricochets the blast are lovely, cause he thinks up ahead better than anyone
  • Cyclops does have an extra power beyond just his optic blasts. It's super spatial awareness. It's how he can be so accurate with shots. The problem is that writers don't know or forget this because it doesn't come up much. When good writers who know the characters wrote scott, they remember this, and he'll hit what he needs to

MCU Captain America proves the American Boy Scout type can work if they are up against compelling characters and conflicts.

My man Cyclops finally getting the attention and respect that he deserves.

For any X-Men fans I'd recommend watching X-Men: Evolution. It was one of my favourite cartoons during my childhood.

I used to pretend i was cyclops and everything i looked at was erased, i stopped doing it because i was watching tv once and a character died out of nowhere and i was genuinely convinced it was my fault

Maddie isn’t Jean Comics’ Scott: So yeah, I left her & the baby. ‘97’s Scott: I will NOT be like my father!

When I was young I had very thick glasses that I got mercilessly bullied for. Seeing cyclops be a badass leader while wearing glasses gave that awkward dorky me hope this will pass and I could over come all of that pain and be “awesome” too. It may seem silly or stupid, but having this example really helped. So happy Cyclops is finally getting his due.
  • In Astonishing X-Men, Joss Whedon got Scott Summers right. Cyclops rips off his visor and annihilates Sentinels, and then a flat on his back (and always on Cyke's ass) Wolverine remarks, "Now I remember why you're the boss."

4:15 Cyclops breaks his fall with his optic blasts in Xmen Evolution as well. I believe it was finale of the first season. Totally loved the Xmen 90s series too as a kid, and all the support this new series is getting is great! We can all have our favorite interpretation of the character, and my personal favorite Scott Summers is from Xmen evolution. Completely shared your opinion about Cyclops being the leader until I saw that series. In a series about people growing up like the Xmen, there are hardly ever stories of them actually in school growing up. Xmen Evolution had Xavier gather students to the institution one by one. Scott was one of the older kids that looked out for everyone being the uptight "Dad" of the group. From baby sitter to even the little things like logistics--Scott could pilot the X-wing while teaching a younger student how to pilot it like older brother would and mentioned charting the destination with the FAA on a trip to recruiting another student. (Really specific thing to remember, but that stood out to me back then as someone into Aviation. Imo you wanna be leader of the Xmen, you gotta be straight with the FAA jk) Prof X even commended him, "well done son. You're growing up." You really saw Scott-- evo-- mature into a leader and earn that spot.
