Final video is in 640x480, as He would have wanted. RIP
  • "Maybe I'm just a bizarre little person who walks back and forth." -- Terry A. Davis. Man, this is heartbreaking.

Imagine walking by Terry, thinking he's just some homeless guy. Not knowing he has a masters degree, is a true genius AND has created his own OS and much more.
  • I only learned about Terry after his death, and it's honestly heart breaking
  • i was friends with terry in high school, before the madness took him. he was a great person and obviously the smartest guy in any room he walked into. i ran across the notice by accident. i was looking for a copy of templeOS. RIP Terry. you taught me how to win at strategy games, games i still play to this day.

"Maybe I'm just a bizarre little person who walks back and forth." Aren't we all? RIP Terry
  • I'm so frustrated why society failed on him so hard. He didn't do drugs, he wasn't an alcoholic, he just wanted to visit the library and use their computer but to them he was a dirty homeless. While in reality Terry was a brilliant man with an illness they left untreated.
  • "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."
  • I've never cared much for celebrity deaths but this one... this one of an obscure programmer who brought much to this world in spite his inner demons... it hurts me lads. RIP Terry. You live in our collective memories.
  • Word for word: "Well I'm King Terry and I learned how to purify myself in a horribly impure environment. It's pretty rough living homeless in a field outside a little town and coming into their library. And it's a very pure town and it must have been an extreme shock to them to see such a horribly sick person come in here and pollute everything. It was a lot of torture to snap me into an ability to handle purity for this job. There's a little castle over there. Let me see. Where's that castle? There it is. Oh no! So that's the little castle. I really like this library. So I come here and use their computer and smoke out here. They must have been freaking out because such an impure person was in their presence. Oh well. I was clearly... now I used to have a respect for purity so... So well, it's good to be king! Hahaha. Wait. Maybe. I think maybe I'm just like a little bizarre little person who walks back and forth. Whatever. You know. Haha. But..."
  • This was his last video, just a few hours before he jumped in front of a train. He mentions that he "found a way to purify himself" as he saw himself as an "unpure, sick person". I guess he was referring to his suicide. Rest in peace Terry. Your story touched many, and will continue to do so. Hopefully we can bring more empathy and better care for those with mental illness. You live on in our hearts and minds.
  • According to the reports he died that same day literally just a few hours after this video. His soft contempt smile at the end of the video makes it all the more sad :'(
  • I first started this video not knowing much about him except for knowing him for his “I’m the best programmer in the world” video where he writes fuck you a lot but these comments shine a light on who he was and it’s so sad
  • Imagine having a near-genius level intellect, being able to build prototypes of 3D printers and program - from scratch - an entire computer hardware operating system only to have that intellect slowly erode away because of a chemical imbalance in your brain, something completely out of your control. He was aware of how far he'd fallen and it must have been devastating for him...
  • I can't watch his videos anymore. It genuinely makes my eyes water.
  • Still sad to this day. Schizophrenia took almost everything from him, but his way of thinking. "It's good to be king!" - yes, Terry, it's amazing! RIP
