Bike Touring The North East Texas Trail

Paris TX to New Boston TX

The Northeast Texas Trail is a planned 130+-mile multi-use trail along the route, following alongside U.S. Highway 82 and Texas State Highway 34.

I was in Dallas for my sons VEX robotic competition so I decided to ride the NETT end to end while in the area. I had my mind made up before realizing the trail isn't finished.

I hit the trail minutes after a severe storm passed and on the first day the threat of tornadoes and rain continued.

This is Mile 60 through 133 of what I was able to ride of the trail, unfortunately it turned in to a pavement tour pretty quickly.

This is Day two

drone notice any and all drone flight footage, flight path take off and end on private property and/or with permission.

“I ain’t rolling through none of the funky stuff” is a great life motto. Enjoyed the trip, funky stuff and all.

Good to see. Definitely gives one a good idea of the progress or lack of in many spots. Know there's been issues with farmers trying to reclaim lost farm land when the railroad left. Bridges out. Locals taking the gravel to repair their gravel roads. There has been even talk of making it a Texas State Park to accelerate use and development. Thanks for taking us on your (wild) ride.

Thanks for posting some footage of the trail. It’s a gem in NE Texas, where the ‘trails’ here are true to Texas - a bit wild, yeehaw 🤠

You should have called this trip "Bringing the Pain with Bane". Lol

That was an awesome video, I live near the trail never made it past Merit because the grass is really tall. I am shocked you didnt see any other wild animals, the last time I was on it I was just about to get past the merit section I saw a brood of wild hogs crossing the trail. I immediately stopped and turned around. But your observations are correct about the drainage and the over growth, your video was great and I really enjoyed watching both parts!

Thanks for the video! I'm in Clarksville...good news is a whole slew of grants were issued over the last year or two that will start soon...paving the trail all the way through Clarksville, then a bridge replacement and packed gravel for the rest out to New Boston...I imagine that will take a bit, but it IS improving!

Great stuff as usual Bane. Not sure if you already bike packed on the trails im going to mention, but i'll throw it out there. Last weekend i rode the Panhandle Trail Colliers, WV / Pittsburgh Pa. Mostly paved, some crushed stone. Headed towards Weirton Wv, then to Wellsburg, Wv picking up the Brooke Pioneer trail heading south to Wheeling Wv, on the Wheeling Heritage trail to Moundsville, Wv. Would love to see you do a video on those area's. The condition of the trails mentioned are 100% better than what you rode on in this video lol Make it happen Bane!

Definitely come back in the fall when it hasn't been raining for 2 months. It'll be better trimmed, certainly more dry. Im headed out over Memorial Day, and we should have a little less rain by then!

Great videos! Love the content. Do you track your rides with any kind of app? I’m adding lots of these trails to my do list. Just finished Tunnel Hill State Trail. It was good, even after the flooding.
