  • The idea of carnivorous plants is pretty unsettling, but it might explain why so many people go missing in densely wooded areas. Great show! I really enjoy your humor too. Well done sir!
  • Mr. Ballen was once my go to for these types of stories. It is my opinion, however, that you have surpassed him. Kudos to you, sir!
  • @timothy7034
You should look into the stories of giant spiders of the congo this episode feels like it would lead to that
  • @Phobetor.
The humble bramble plant is also carnivorous. It traps sheep and the likes with backwards barbs and feed off the decaying body. 😮
  • @mohork
The SCP series talked about a vine that eats humans. There is another legend of a vine so strong, that not even a Bigfoot could ever escape its clutches, it's said to be stronger than steel.
  • You're the best supernatural history channel at this point! We're lucky to have you and your team so hard at work finding such unique stuff!!
  • @Krullmatic
This is awesome Josh! Not many people, if any, go in-depth about man-eating plants!
  • Just think, with the current ice storms, people are bringing their plants indoors to preserve them 🐻😆
  • My girlfriend had a Venus fly trap plant. It ate 3 times a day and it ate 1/4 lb of hamburger a day. I think it would have eaten our fingers if we would have put them in it’s mouth. I had nightmares about it
  • "Many botanist spies, died to bring us this information." Now we can attack the new Death Star... 😁🐻
  • @OlavUnngar
Wow, lived in South Carolina my whole life and had no idea Venus Fly traps only grew here. We used to play with them as kids, I’ve even grown my own, and fed them different bugs and spiders I’d find as a kid lol
  • @Kroggnagch
“Step right up to see the man eating plant!” -Behind the curtain it’s just me, eating broccoli.
  • @kes9612
Lived in NC all my life and have had many Venus fly traps over the years but never knew they were native to the carolinas. I guess that explains why back in the 90s they were always sold abundantly in tiny little flower pots, most certainly marketed for kids and the curious adult gardener. I've even had some in my adult age now, always have loved them and felt a strange draw to that carnivorous plant which started in my youth

The plant that you showed last, with the sheep ensnared in it's thorny vine's grasp - is not Puya Chilensis it's common stinging nettles. That's footage of a UK farmer freeing a sheep from some. Funny because I was just about to comment - "Another type of plant that could very well be considered carnivorous in much the same way as the p. Chilensis is the common nettle plant. They will ensnare animals, sheep in particular, as their wool meeting the nettles barbed thorny vines is like touching the soft piece of Velcro to the rough piece. The slightest touch and they're already hooked and only likely to struggle and seal their fate. Then as they decay, the plant gets a gigantic dose of fertilizer. You can find nettles patches in free range pastures with tons of wool and bones littered throughout the vegetation. It's doing everything the other carnivorous plants do but in a roundabout, low energy expenditure way."
