This really came at the right time for me to reassure myself I haven’t done the wrong thing. I quit a high paying job I hated and am finally doing what I love. I don’t know what the future will hold, but it can’t be worse than staying in that job. My only regret is it took me until my fifties to realise this. You have inspired me.

"Detaching from all outcomes". And love the point that sometimes a job may not be the safest option, it really makes us reexamine what we want to get the most out of life and our time.

"A job is not the most secure option." I was recently laid off and your video expresses a lot of the same feelings I'm having. Since losing my job I'm volunteering and doing things I enjoy but never had time for. I didn't choose to leave and I liked my job, but I don't miss it. I miss the money and stability it gave me and navigating an unexpected layoff without a big financial safety net has caused us to downsize our life and live more frugally. But I'm fortunate to have a very supportive partner, no kids and some part time work that helps while I'm figuring out what's next. But you're right I'm learning that maybe 9-5 work isn't for everybody. This freedom is a joy I've never felt before in a job. I just need to figure out how to translate doing what I enjoy into consistent income.

Watching this video about quitting the 9 to 5 grind really resonates with me. It's a powerful reminder that life is too short to be spent doing something that doesn't fulfill us. Thanks Laurie

Really good of the reality advice for adults!!
  • Honestly, I work in tech start up and so ready to start on my own. I am on the talent and HR side, you are so right about jobs not being safe. You would be amazed how I’ve heard more senior People/HR teams talk about lay offs like it’s just another day, not even really caring about the peoples lives it will impact.
  • Same boat. I’m in Fintech. Just stumbled across your channel & subbed ☝🏻. Took me 3+ years of procrastination to launch my channel as well. Slow growth but glad I started

HR has no interest in selling goods or services. Something got broke. Self employment is the path.
  • "Freedom has more value than money and status" - amen sister. I am very inspired and moved by your philosophy of follow your bliss. Is there a book or audiobook in your future? ✌

On one hand I truly respect your decision to turn the page and quit your job, but it hurts to see someone like you, a guru of the field take that path. I wish you the best in your alternet endevours. Here is another great book/memoir that you might be interested in: "Ditching Success? A Career Ventured; A Life Regained" by Batoul Ajlouni.
  • Just got laid off after 10 years. After all these years of helping the company in implementing projects and make money, they just let me go! I feel broke and lost but will continue to kick on !
