  • I think the scenes where nick is in the school and shop is to show just how much he suffered from his fear and trauma of being locked up as a kid, maybe having social anxiety and being unable to go about his daily life.
  • There’s a second game that explains the story, the mother dies, this grief is huge on the neighbor and causes him to start neglecting his two kids. The more neglectment and the loss of the mother the brother hurts his sister killing her. The neighbor locks the son in the basement for what he did to his sister
  • I never played this game, only watched Matpat’s videos about it, and it is COMPLETELY different to what matpat says happens. This one sounds more in depth…

In the book series for the game, it’s revealed that Nickys fear of shopping marts comes from his childhood experience when him and his grandmother went to a supermarket and she forgets about him, leaving him behind on a shopping cart

3:45 Mr Peterson was looking back because his son broke a window to distract him from chasing Nicky
  • @Glisten456
Personally, the wildest part of this whole series is that the neighborhood allowed Mr Peterson to turn his house into a fortress during Act 2.

I got a theory on this- in the prequel, "hello neighbour : hide and seek" it is shown how their kids played together, half the game is like that but..... As shown, soon after the death of their mother, the brother, had a mental breakdown just like the neighbour and accidently pushed her sister from the terrace of the house while playing, the sister dies as shown with the grave from which the boy we play as in the first game gets a key, the child he locked their was his own son and he pasted missing posters of them so that his son is protected from legal actions, then he himself has a mental breakdown, and well you know what happens after that....

3:13 The interesting thing is that he pushed her away physically AND metaphorically, as seen in Hello Neighbour Hide and Seek. He began to push her away after their mom died, and he literally pushed her off the roof out of anger, almost instantly regretting his actions

I have psychosis from childhood trauma and it involves seeing shadowy figures when I'm stressed and believing I'm being stalked by predatory people when I'm triggered. This feels very similar to those experiences
  • You forgot to mention at the end of act 2 Peterson had to choose between chasing Nickie or going back cause you actually hear a crash noise and a child scream which is why he's looking back and forth and chooses to let you go

I wonder if GamerSault ever considered doing a Story Explained on “We Happy Few”? That game died out so fast, despite having a compelling narrative.

2:46 The son's name is Aaron and the daughter's name is Mya. After Aaron's mother died to the crash, he went insane (thinking he is a curse and is the reason behind her death) and accidently pushed her sister off the roof. Btw the mom's name is Diane 3:40 In the end of act 2, the reason why the neighbor doesnt go after Nicky is because he was distracted by his son who broke glass and had to check on him 6:20 Im not sure that the eyes paintings and monitors are necessarely related to his traumas since the real house did have eyes paintings and cameras, but gud theory 6:50 Im pretty sure the padlocks in act 3 are not related to the basement, since one of the lock is yellow and the yellow key in act 3 only opens a shortcut. Its the blue key that leads to a room where u can play one of the minigames(edited) 7:35 I dont see why the neighbor would be houseschooling nicky 7:52 The supermarket minigame is explained in the books as one of nicky's first trauma in his life (many years before the events of Hello Neighbor). Also, you seem to say "The next segment of this room", which is not true at all. Those minigames are found in their own and completely different rooms 8:04 Umm... You say nicky gets out of the map after the supermarket minigame, but you can get out of the map without having to beat the minigame. Plus, i dont think the Missing_Script_Error is canon to the lore in any ways. Its just a hidden way for the player to explore the town 9:10 I have to point out that in act Finale, you need to defeat the neighbor in order to get on the house on his back. Which i think is pretty metaphorical 9:45 "while the neighbor is crying and drinking" excuse me WHAT? 10:53 That ending basically portrays how the neighbor doesnt want to confront his fears keeping him away from peace and happiness
  • @surajitsadhya
R if you play hide and seek hello neighbor at the end of chapter 5, his son Aaron pushes the daughter Maya off the roof while playing a game of hide and seek. That is another loss in the Peterson family. So you see R the nightmare represented Aaron pushing Maya off the roof
  • @SnuSnuDungeon
The only thing I remember about this game was Security Shark on the second floor of the neighbors house

The story is actually good, but it's brought down by the bad gameplay and design. A big chunk of the game features platforming but the way the controls are make it very hard and janky. The puzzles would've been good if there were more obvious clues on how to solve them. I also think the levels are too long, there's lots of trial and error involved which makes it frustrating, sometimes its not even the player's fault when the neighbor catches them or if they fall off a platform. To me, Hello Neighbor is a solid 5/10, the story is good and full of powerful themes and symbolism, but the gameplay and controls are bad to work with.
  • This video just reminds me how disappointing this game was to me. It’s fun but I think it could have been more clear in its storytelling.
  • @toddnewell4869
one thing to note is that the protagonist is friends with the neighbor son before the events of the game. And he knows the neighbor on somewhat of a more personal level. This is all from the two hello neighbor books.
  • I remember playing this game when I was little I never knew how deep this was....
  • @beybreado
Imagine at the end of the game shows: Based off a true story.
  • @Lowry_
Can I just point that the "secret ending" is actually a mod
