Overvolting toys! #8. Audio circuits goes crazy

I put higher voltage on more toys primarily using a 0-30V bench power supply. But some toys required even more voltage to die! Used a Variac with a full bridge rectifier (input 230V) when I needed more than 30V.

I was expecting some negative comments about the furby. It was in really bad shape internally with lots of broken plastic, not worth much and I probably saved it from going in the trash... But apparently, people are way more upset about Ernie. It didn't cost much, so I never thought it was some rarity. Sorry if it makes you sad.

I just love how there’s ppl complaining abt how rare that Ernie is but no one is complaining abt how rare that French Beat Bowwow is. Edit: I am just fixing some typos in my comment

I am surprised at how much voltage the sound chips took as usually they blow at around 7volts. The smoke when the rabbit toy blew it's motor was so funny.

Is no one going to talk abt how creepy it is when that rabbit’s sound chip starts dying at 10v?? 3:10 is the part where it starts but that is so creepy!!
  • 3:20 I thought the drumming rabbit was about to pull a FNAF style jump scare when its audio chip started wigging out

I know there are a lot of thease videos on YouTube now as they seem to have become quite popular but this is by far the best, usually after the circuit fails the other channels just bypass it & hook it straight to the motor but you continue feeding the boards 40+ volts until fireworks appear 🤣 love it, keep it up.

The Ernie one reminds me of a fantastic Sesame Street edit called "Bert and Ernie Go Brutal", except in that they were both drummers. Well done, love the fire!
